Process for producing synthetic fuel
The present invention provides a process for the manufacture of a synthetic fuel comprising gasifying a carbonaceous feedstock comprising waste materials and/or biomass to generate a raw synthesis gas; supplying the raw synthesis gas to a primary clean-up zone to wash particulates and ammonia or HCl out of the raw synthesis gas; contacting the synthesis gas in a secondary clean-up zone with a physical solvent for sulphurous materials; contacting the desulphurised raw synthesis gas in a tertiary clean-up zone with a physical solvent for CO.sub.2 effective to absorb CO.sub.2; removing at least part of the absorbed CO.sub.2 in a solvent regeneration stage to recover CO.sub.2 in a form sufficiently pure for sequestration or other use; and supplying the clean synthesis gas to a further reaction train to generate a synthetic fuel.
MULTI-REACTION PROCESS FOR FORMING A PRODUCT GAS FROM SOLID CARBONACEOUS MATERIAL
A direct carbonaceous material to power generation system integrates one or more solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) into a fluidized bed gasifier. The fuel cell anode is in direct contact with bed material so that the H.sub.2 and CO generated in the bed are oxidized to H.sub.2O and CO.sub.2 to create a push-pull or source-sink reaction environment. The SOFC is exothermic and supplies heat within a reaction chamber of the gasifier where the fluidized bed conducts an endothermic reaction. The products from the anode are the reactants for the reformer and vice versa. A lower bed in the reaction chamber may comprise engineered multi-function material which may incorporate one or more catalysts and reactant adsorbent sites to facilitate excellent heat and mass transfer and fluidization dynamics in fluidized beds. The catalyst is capable of cracking tars and reforming hydrocarbons.
Engineered fuel feed stock
Disclosed are novel engineered fuel feed stocks, feed stocks produced by the described processes, and methods of making the fuel feed stocks. Components derived from processed MSW waste streams can be used to make such feed stocks which are substantially free of glass, metals, grit and noncombustibles. These feed stocks are useful for a variety of purposes including as gasification and combustion fuels.
LOOP COMBUSTION PLANT AND METHOD COMPRISING A CYCLONE AIR REACTOR
The present invention relates to a novel CLC plant and to a novel CLC method employing a cyclone oxidation reactor to oxidize the oxygen carrier.
CYCLONE FOR A CHEMICAL LOOPING COMBUSTION FACILITY AND METHOD PROVIDED WITH AN INLET DUCT HAVING SLOPED WALLS AND GAS INJECTION
The present invention relates to a cyclone for gas/solid separation in a plant for chemical looping combustion of a hydrocarbon feedstock using reactors operating as circulating fluidized beds. The novel cyclone has a specific inlet pipe of which a lower wall and one of the lateral walls are inclined and which has at least one auxiliary-gas injection means at the lower wall, making it possible to reduce the deposition of solid matter at the inlet of the cyclone, to optionally carry out chemical reactions inside the cyclone, and to improve the efficiency of the cyclone.
PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF HIGH QUALITY SYNGAS THROUGH REGENERATION OF COKED UPGRADATION AGENT
The present invention relates to a process for the production of high quality synthesis gas rich in hydrogen during the process of upgrading the residual hydrocarbon oil feedstock by rejuvenating the spent upgrading material in Reformer in absence of air/oxygen without supplying external heat source other than the heat generated inside the process during combustion of residual coke deposited on the upgrading material. The present invention further relates to the apparatus used for preparation of syngas wherein said syngas thus produced is used for production of hydrogen gas. Furthermore, the present invention also provides system and method for preparing pure hydrogen from syngas.
Using fossil fuels to increase biomass-based fuel benefits
In the production of fuel such as ethanol from carbonaceous feed material such as biomass, a stream comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide is added to the raw gas stream derived from the feed material, and the resulting combined stream is converted into fuel and a gaseous byproduct such as by a Fischer-Tropsch reaction. The gaseous byproduct may be utilized in the formation of the aforementioned stream comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide.
Manufacturing method and manufacturing apparatus of syngas, and manufacturing method of liquid hydrocarbon using the same
Provided are a method for manufacturing syngas including the steps of (S1) heat-treating organic waste in a first reactor to produce a first mixed gas; (S2) introducing the first mixed gas to a second reactor and subjecting it to methane reforming in the presence of a catalyst to produce a second mixed gas; (S3) separating the catalyst and carbon dioxide from the second mixed gas and recovering a third mixed gas from which the catalyst and the carbon dioxide have been removed; (S4) converting the carbon dioxide separated in step (S3) into carbon monoxide through a reverse Boudouard reaction in a third reactor; and (S5) mixing the third mixed gas recovered in step (S3) and the carbon monoxide converted in step (S4) to produce syngas, and an apparatus for manufacturing syngas.
Process of treating carbonaceous material and apparatus therefor
A process for processing carbonaceous material includes delivering a carbonaceous material to a reactor; delivering a catalyst to the reactor; processing the carbonaceous material at a relatively low temperature within the reactor to decompose the carbonaceous material to base compounds.
