INTEGRATED BIOMASS GASIFICATION AND ELECTROLYSIS
Systems and methods are provided for integration of electrolysis with biomass gasification to generate synthesis gas that can be used for production of renewable fuels and/or other hydrocarbonaceous compounds. The hydrocarbonaceous compounds can include compounds formed by chemical synthesis, such as alkanes formed by a Fischer-Tropsch process or methanol formed by a methanol synthesis process; or the hydrocarbonaceous compounds can include compounds formed by fermentation, such as alcohols formed by micro-organisms that use the synthesis gas as an input feed.
Two-stage syngas production with separate char and product gas inputs into the second stage
A two-stage syngas production method to produce a final product gas from a carbonaceous material includes producing a first product gas in a first reactor, separating char from the first product gas to produce separated char and char-depleted product gas, and separately reacting the separated char and the char-depleted product gas with an oxygen-containing gas in a second reactor to produce a final product gas. The separated char is introduced into the second reactor above the char-depleted product gas. The solids separation device may include serially connected cyclones, and the separated char may be entrained in a motive fluid in an eductor to produce a char and motive fluid mixture prior to being transferred to the second reactor. A biorefinery method produces a purified product from the final product gas.
TWO-STAGE GASIFIER AND GASIFICATION PROCESS WITH FEEDSTOCK FLEXIBILITY
A gasification process may include (a) introducing a liquid hydrocarbon feedstock and at least one of a dry feedstock or a first slurried feedstock into a reactor lower section, wherein the at least one dry feedstock or first slurried feedstock is introduced through two primary feed nozzles while the liquid hydrocarbon feedstock is introduced through at least two secondary feed nozzles; (b) partially combusting the feedstocks in the reactor lower section with a gas stream comprising an oxygen-containing gas or steam to evolve heat and form products comprising hot synthesis gas; (c) passing said hot synthesis gas from step (b) upward into a reactor upper section; (d) and introducing a second slurried feedstock into said reactor upper section, whereby heat from said hot synthesis gas supports reaction of the second slurried feedstock by pyrolysis and gasification reactions.
Integrated method and apparatus for catalytic cracking of heavy oil and production of syngas
The present disclosure provides an integrated method and apparatus for catalytic cracking of heavy oil and production of syngas. A cracking-gasification coupled reactor having a cracking section and a gasification section is used as a reactor in the method. A heavy oil feedstock is fed into a cracking section to contact with a bed material in a fluidized state that contains a cracking catalyst, a catalytic cracking reaction is conducted under atmospheric pressure to obtain light oil-gas and coke. The coke is carried downward by the bed material into a gasification section to conduct a gasification reaction to generate syngas; the syngas goes upward into the cracking section to merge with the light oil-gas, and is guided out from the coupled reactor and enter a gas-solid separation system. Oil-gas fractionation is performed to a purified oil-gas product output from the gas-solid separation system to collect light oil and syngas products.
Hydrogen generation furnace using decomposition of biomass stream
Disclosed is a hydrogen generation furnace using decomposition of biomass steam, which employs an infrared source and a furnace body with a water-accommodating structure. A steam separation-drying device is cylindrical and provided at an upper part of an interior of the furnace body and a cavity of the steam separation-drying device forms a secondary gasifier. A lattice plate is provided at a bottom of the interior of the furnace body. A lattice combustion grate is provided above a middle of the lattice plate. A steam distributor is provided outside a lower part of the furnace body. The furnace of the invention performs gasified gas separation as well as secondary oxidation and gasification and mixes steam with gas generated from biomass to perform a decomposition reaction for generating hydrogen.
Pulverized coal gasification device and process for producing high heating value coal gas with low carbon residue content
A pulverized coal gasification device and process for producing high heating value coal gas with low carbon residue content includes a U-shaped coal gas generation furnace and a coal gas-semicoke separating device, and the U-shaped coal gas generation furnace consists of two section structures including high-temperature and low-temperature sections which are arranged in a U-shaped manner; the high-temperature section and the low-temperature section share an ash hopper; the high-temperature section is a downward entrained-flow bed, and the low-temperature section is an upward entrained-flow bed; and an inlet of the coal gas separating device is connected to the outlet of the low-temperature section, a solid outlet of the coal gas separating device is connected to an inlet of the high-temperature section, and a gas outlet of the coal gas separating device is connected to a coal gas waste heat utilizing and purifying system. The coal utilization rate can be greatly increased.
Method for reducing the tar content in pyrolysis gas
Disclosed is a method for reducing the tar content in pyrolysis gas generated in a pyrolysis reactor (1). The method comprises the steps of: guiding the pyrolysis gas through a filter (2) to remove at least 90% of all the particles in the pyrolysis gas having a particle size down to 7μ and preferably down to 4μ from the pyrolysis gas, partially oxidizing the pyrolysis gas in a partial oxidation reactor (3) to remove tar from the pyrolysis gas, and guiding the pyrolysis gas through a coke bed (4) to further remove tar from the pyrolysis gas. Furthermore, a two-stage gasifier (6) is disclosed.
METHOD FOR GASIFYING CARBON-CONTAINING MATERIAL
A method for gasifying carbon-containing materials in which the material for gasification and oxygen, usually in the form of air, are supplied to a gas generator where the gasification takes place in a fixed bed reactor. The product gas is drawn off via a product gas line and introduced into a hot gas filter. A filter, preferably provided with filter candles, removes solids such as particles not yet gasified, ash and foreign bodies, while clean gas passes through and is taken off via a clean gas line. An outlet is provided in the bottom region of the hot gas filter to remove residual solids. The hot gas filter is supplied through a line with oxygen, preferably in the form of air, in its middle height region, between the filter bottom and the outlet.
Fuels And Fuel Additives That Have High Biogenic Content Derived From Renewable Organic Feedstock
Fuel and fuel additives can be produced by processes that provide Fischer-Tropsch liquids having high biogenic carbon concentrations of up to about 100% biogenic carbon. The fuels and fuel additive have essentially the same high biogenic concentration as the Fischer-Tropsch liquids which, in turn, contain the same concentration of biogenic carbon as the feedstock.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR A COMBINED TIRE PYROLYZER/GASIFIER AND BIOMASS GASIFIER
A gasifier system that combines the use of dirty fuels with clean fuels such as biomass. The heat created produces steam for the co-generation of mechanical power and electricity. The dirty fuels are converted in a gasifier or a pyrolyzer into various useful products that include syngas, heat, and oils. Syngas that is produced by the dirty fuels normally emits pollutants when combusted that require scrubbing. However, when the syngas is combusted into a biomass gasifier the dirty fuel emissions are scrubbed by being reformed into a much cleaner syngas/producer gas. Heat transferred from the dirty fuels gasifier/pyrolyzer syngas increases the efficiency of the clean fuels gasifier that results in increased amounts of steam for electricity/power production. In lieu of producing steam, the syngas from the clean fuel gasifier can be used to fuel an engine for power production. Other outputs from the clean-fuels gasifier include biochar and ash.
