The pressure control system includes a first pressure sensing device configured to obtain a first pressure measurement including at least one of a first differential pressure and a first pressure, the first pressure measurement obtained from at least one of within and downstream from a solids supply system, a second pressure sensing device configured to obtain a second pressure measurement including at least one of a second differential pressure and a second pressure within the solids supply system, and a pressure controller configured to use the first pressure measurement and the second pressure measurement to control a pressure within the solids supply system.
Improvements relating to coal to liquid processes
Process for preparing a hydrocarbon product from a solid carbonaceous fuel (8), the process at least comprising the steps of: (a) supplying a solid carbonaceous fuel (8) and an oxygen containing stream (9) to a burner of a gasification reactor (10), wherein a CO.sub.2 containing transport gas (30, 32) is used to transport the solid carbonaceous fuel (8) to the burner wherein the weight ratio of CO.sub.2 to the carbonaceous fuel in step (a) is less than 0.5 on dry basis.; (b) partially oxidising the carbonaceous fuel in the gasification reactor, thereby obtaining a gaseous stream at least comprising CO, CO.sub.2, and H.sub.2 (11); (c) removing the gaseous stream obtained in step (b) from the gasification reactor; (d) optionally shift converting (16) at least part of the gaseous stream as obtained in step (c) thereby obtaining a CO depleted stream, (e) subjecting the gaseous stream of step (c) and/or the optional CO depleted stream of step (d) to a Fischer-Tropsch reaction to obtain a hydrocarbon product (24).
Pressurized gasification apparatus to convert coal or other carbonaceous material to gas while producing a minimum amount of tar
An apparatus for the gasification of coal or other carbonaceous material is provided for operation at an elevated pressure of at least 30 psia, preferably, between 30 psia and 150 psia. Coal or other carbonaceous material passes downwards through two interconnected sections of a gasifier. In the upper section the coal is dried and partially devolatalized and so converted into a char before it passes into the lower section where it is converted, by reaction with steam and air, into ash and a gaseous mixture of carbon monoxide, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, methane, ethane, ethylene, hydrogen sulphide, carbonyl sulphide and small amounts of ammonia and phenols. The coal, ultimately converted to ash, exits the gasifier through a flanged semi-spherical containment section that has an integrated rotating grate, which collects and disposes of the ash and through which pass the air and steam used as reactants in the gasifier.
Apparatuses, systems, mobile gasification systems, and methods for gasifying residual biomass
Apparatuses, systems, mobile gasification systems, and methods for gasifying residual biomass are described. An example system may include a mobile gasification system configured to gasify feedstock generated from residual biomass to provide syngas. The mobile gasification system may be configured to generate electrical power using the syngas. The mobile gasification system may be configured to be installed in a transportable structure.
INTEGRATED GASIFICATION AND POWER GENERATION SYSTEM AND METHODS OF USE
An integrated gasification and power generation system includes a gasifier configured to receive biomass and generate syngas, wherein the gasifier is configured to operate at a pressure of approximately 100 bar to approximately 400 bar. The system further includes a recuperated Brayton thermodynamic power generation loop configured to receive the generated syngas and convert the generated syngas into a CO.sub.2 working fluid, wherein at least a portion of the CO.sub.2 working fluid from the power generation loop is reintroduced from the power generation loop to the gasifier.
METHOD OF PRODUCING SYNGAS FROM BIOMASS UTILIZING TAIL GAS FOR TAR REMOVAL
A system and method for the generation of syngas from the gasification of biomass is disclosed herein. Some aspects of the disclosure are directed to a biomass gasification method that employs a tail gas by-product as a fuel.
Powder supply hopper pressurizing apparatus, gasifier unit, integrated gasification combined cycle and control method of powder supply hopper pressurizing apparatus
A powder supply hopper pressurizing apparatus including a first buffer tank in which pressurizing gas to be supplied to a powder supply hopper is accumulated at a predetermined pressure, a second buffer tank, a lower part pressure adjustment nitrogen system connected to the powder supply hopper, to supply the gas toward powder fuel stored in the powder supply hopper when supplying the powder fuel to a burner, and a control unit that controls the first buffer tank to pressurize the powder supply hopper to a first pressure and then controls the second buffer tank to pressurize the powder supply hopper to a second pressure, and where the control unit determines that one of the first buffer tank or the second buffer tank is non-usable, the control unit pressurizes the powder supply hopper by use of the first or second buffer tank that is operable, and the gas supply system.
