The purpose of this device is to give assistance to a person that is standing in a particular area for an extended amount of time. This is achieved for people of different heights by having a rotating joint at the base. A saddle joint at the base of the housing enables this device to be adjustable. The seat portion can rotate to adjust to different people. This supporting system is designed to bear some of the load while standing, to accommodate a more ergonomic environment for the person standing.

Tiltable stool and tiltable lounge chair

A tiltable stool includes a seat support, a seat, and a tilt mechanism. The seat is mounted to an upper end of the seat support. The tilt mechanism allows the seat to tilt in a desired direction. The tilt mechanism includes a coiled wave spring, an upper spring retainer and a lower spring retainer, a fastener bolt, and a tilt limiter. The upper spring retainer and the lower spring retainer are disposed opposite each other to sandwich the coiled wave spring therebetween. The fastener bolt pivotably holds the upper spring retainer in position. The tilt limiter is disposed inside the coiled wave spring and is secured to either one of the spring retainers. The tilt limiter includes a conical surface thereon which contacts a contact surface when the seat tilts to a predetermined tilt angle. The upper spring retainer is secured to a lower end of the seat support.

Apparatus and method for supporting a human body using supernumerary artificial limbs

An apparatus includes at least one supernumerary artificial limb and a base structure configured to couple with a human body. The base structure includes a sensor that obtains a measurement regarding load of the human body. The proximal end of the supernumerary artificial limb is coupled to the base structure. The apparatus further includes a processor operatively coupled with the sensor and configured to receive the measurement from the sensor. The processor is also configured to generate a control signal to change at least one of a position of the supernumerary artificial limb and a torque exerted by the supernumerary artificial limb based on the measurement regarding the load.

An ergonomic chair has a back support member and means for arranging and supporting legs of the user in an asymmetric configuration, with a first leg extending in front of a body of the user and a second leg aligned with or extending behind the body of the user. An angle between the first and second legs in a side view can be at least 30 degrees. The means for arranging and supporting legs can comprise one or more fixed structures that support the first leg in a first orientation, or one or more dynamic structures that can be positioned by the user to support the first leg in a first orientation. In some embodiments, with the legs of the user in the asymmetric configuration, a centerline of the user is offset from a centerline of the back support member with respect to a lateral direction.
