Adjustable seat and leaning apparatus
09968195 · 2018-05-15 · ·

An adjustable seating solution that enables users to adjust several seating characteristics is disclosed. In a relatively low sitting position, the disclosed device provides some support if the user leans back, but predominately supports the user's weight and requires the user to engage core muscles to maintain good posture. The disclosed apparatus enables the user to adjust the seat upward to a leaning position. A platform extends forward under the user's feet to ensure that when the user leans against the seat, the apparatus remains stable. The apparatus enables the seat portion to be tilted, such that varying contours can be selected to engage the user's body in a desired way. At low heights, the user can tilt the seat portion forward to require the user to further engage core muscles while seated. At higher heights, the user can customize the contour of the seat that engages the user's body.

Ergonomic chairs supporting asymmetric leg configurations
12133596 · 2024-11-05 ·

An ergonomic chair has a back support member and means for arranging and supporting legs of the user in an asymmetric configuration, with a first leg extending in front of a body of the user and a second leg aligned with or extending behind the body of the user. An angle between the first and second legs in a side view can be at least 30 degrees. The means for arranging and supporting legs can comprise one or more fixed structures that support the first leg in a first orientation, or one or more dynamic structures that can be positioned by the user to support the first leg in a first orientation. In some embodiments, with the legs of the user in the asymmetric configuration, a centerline of the user is offset from a centerline of the back support member with respect to a lateral direction.

Tiltable stool
09894998 · 2018-02-20 · ·

An improved tiltable stool comprises a seat, a body structure, and a base. The base comprises an annular elastic base member having a downwardly convex outer surface and a downwardly concave inner surface. Deformation of the annular elastic base causes a stabilizing force which pushes the tiltable stool towards a normal position when the tiltable stool or chair is tilted out of the normal position. The stabilizing force increases with the weight of a user and provides a consistent dynamic seating experience for users of different weights. An upper section of the annular elastic base is substantially cylindrical and firmly connected to the base structure. The downwardly convex outer surface of a lower section of the annular elastic base member rests on the floor. A contact area between the annular elastic base member and the floor is substantially ring-shaped, and grows outwardly with an increasing weight placed on the seat.

Portable buttock and foot support device
09872570 · 2018-01-23 ·

A portable buttock and foot support device supports a user's buttocks and feet in a location where a conventional seat is not available. The device includes a base having a bottom surface, a top surface, and a perimeter edge extending around and between the top surface and the bottom surface. A buttock support is pivotally coupled to the base. The buttock support is positionable to extend upwardly relative to the top surface of the base. A foot support is pivotally coupled to the base. The foot support is positionable to extend upwardly relative to the top surface of the base. The foot support is positioned in spaced relationship to the buttock support.

Chair and joint system for a chair or a seating apparatus

Joint arrangement (10) has a hollow cylindrical receiving cylinder (20) that extends in a cylinder axis direction (Z) and receives one end of a chair column (30) of an active-dynamic wobble chair, the latter movably mounted in a substantially hollow cylindrical outer joint shell (40) composed of joint shell segments (45). Movable mounting of receiving cylinder (20) is achieved by deformable elastic elements (50) arranged to be variable in shape and position in a bearing gap (60) between an outer wall portion (21, 22) of the receiving cylinder (20) and an inner wall portion (41, 42) of the joint shell (40). Receiving cylinder (20) is actuated in a force-dependent manner, whereby shape and/or position of the elastic elements (50) change as viewed in a radial direction (Rs) from changing, preferably reducing, clearance of the bearing gap (60) when the receiving cylinder (20) is actuated in a cylinder axis direction (Z).

Upright active-sitting seat

An upright active-sitting seat provides a connection of a seating leg to a base through an articulating joint that allows the user to move a seat front to back and side to side, allowing a more active sitting that encourages blood circulation. The chair includes a seat supported by a post that is connected to a mount via a ball joint rod by a transverse rod that is routed through the ball joint rod end. By way of a coil spring that engages with the mount and the post, the post is spring biased to a home position relative to the mount. When using the chair, a person may move the seat from the home position to a comfortable seating position. When the person stands from the chair after using it, the chair returns to its spring biased home position.
