The invention relates to the use of engineered fuel feedstocks to control the emission of sulfur-based, chlorine-based, nitrogen-based, or mercury-based pollutants, such as SO.sub.2, SO.sub.3, H.sub.2SO.sub.4, NO, NO.sub.2, HCl, and Hg that are generated during the combustion of fossil fuels, such as coal. Disclosed are novel engineered fuel feedstocks, feedstocks produced by the described processes, methods of making the fuel feedstocks, methods of producing energy from the fuel feedstocks, and methods of generating electricity from the fuel feedstocks.

System and method using a horizontal sublimation chamber for production of fuel from a carbon-containing feedstock
09567543 · 2017-02-14 · ·

Systems and methods for producing product gas fuel and solid char fuel from a carbon-containing feedstock are described. Feedstock is introduced into and transported through at least one substantially horizontal sublimation reaction chamber. An initial and final sublimation temperature is maintained within less than 10 C. in an atmosphere free from external oxygen and externally supplied catalyst. The system is configured to not have any product gas leak out of the reaction chamber or oxygen leak into a hot box configured to heat the reaction chamber.

Fluidized bed reactor systems and methods for torrefaction and catalytic pyrolysis of biomass

A fluidized bed reactor for biomass treatment comprising a vessel extending in a first direction from a first end to a second end, an inlet at the first end of the vessel for feeding biomass particles into the vessel, an outlet at the second end of the vessel for outputting processed biomass, a first fluid inlet independently activatable to deliver a first volume of a gas in a second direction into a first region of the vessel, and a second fluid inlet spaced apart from the first fluid inlet in the first direction and independently activatable to deliver a second volume of the gas in the second direction into a second region of the vessel, the second region adjacent the first region.

Process and system for producing engineered fuel

A process and system for producing an engineered fuel product that meets customer specifications for composition and combustion characteristics is provided. The engineered fuel product is preferably a high-BTU, alternative fuel that burns cleaner than coal or petroleum coke (petcoke) and has significantly reduced NOx, SO.sub.2 and GHG emissions.

Plastic conversion feed system

A plastic conversion feeding system serves to transport a feedstock through different processing units or stations to a vessel wherein chemical and/or physical reactions occur to produce suitable, useful end products. Various processing units include a homogenizer for breaking up said feedstock, a size reduction device for reducing the feedstock to particles and densifying the same, a heating and/or blending device for heating said feedstock, and a feed conduit connecting said heating and blending device to said vessel. The feedstock conversion unit vessel through various cracking, reforming, condensation, recombination, and recracking operations, produces a mixture of useful gases and condensable gases.

Copper-magnesium co-doped carbonized wood sponge material, preparation therefor, and application thereof, and method for converting plastics into fuel based on fenton-like system

The present disclosure provides a copper-magnesium co-doped carbonized wood sponge material, a preparation therefor, and an application thereof, and a method for converting plastics into fuel based on a Fenton-like system. In the present disclosure, a copper-magnesium co-doped carbonized wood sponge catalyst is prepared by high-temperature pyrolysis after a wood raw material is coated with polydopamine (PDA) and a copper element and a magnesium element are loaded on a wood sponge substrate, realizing the loading of a nanoreactor on a wood sponge layered structure, and forming a unique spatial microenvironment and synergistic effect by combining a superior three-dimensional lamellar structure of the wood sponge substrate with the structural advantages of the nanoreactor to promote an electron transfer pathway on a surface.
