A sofa that transitions between a sitting position and a sleeping position includes a frame with a bracket and multiple arms and support bases that allow the frame to move from the sitting position and the sleeping position, and the reverse, by allowing the multiple arms to rotate and support bases to rotate about the bracket at attachment points where the bracket and arms are connected by fasteners. A back support portion of the sofa may be hingedly moveable into first and second positions to reduce the vertical height of the back support to allow easier transport and movement of the sofa. The sofa may have a space or notch underneath that is configured to be fastened or otherwise affixed to a platform, such as a bump out in a recreational vehicle, to provide the sofa with a lower profile.

A convertible stand for concealing an inflatable mattress that converts into a headboard when the inflatable mattress is inflated. The convertible stand has a compartment. A pliable material is connected to the inflatable mattress. A portion of the pliable material extends beyond an end of the inflatable mattress and is connected to an inner wall surface of the compartment. A barrier is connected to the convertible stand. When the barrier is oriented in an upper position the compartment is open and the inflatable mattress can be inflated. When the barrier is oriented in a lower position the compartment is closed and both the deflated inflatable mattress and pliable material are retained within the compartment of the convertible stand.

A sofa bed is convertible to a bunk bed using a base frame assembly; an upper bunk assembly to be disposed on the base frame assembly in a seating position and to be disposed above the base frame assembly in a bunk bed position; a front link and a rear link pivotally attached to the base frame assembly and the upper bunk assembly, alternative embodiments adding a flange plate secured to the rear link with a motor, cable, drive, screw and drive assembly, or adding a torsion spring assembly, or substituting vertical scissors mechanism for the links or substituting telescoping supports for the link assemblies.

The bed folding mechanism is configured to move the bed between a folded position, in which the seat and subseat sections are generally horizontally disposed and positioned in vertically stacked relationship in the cavity of the base, with the seat and subseat cushions facing upwardly, and an unfolded position, in which the seat and subseat sections are horizontally disposed and aligned to form a sleeping surface.

A sofa bed is convertible to a bunk bed using front and rear links coacting with front and rear cylinders to lift a bunk frame from the sofa position, in which it is used for seating, to a bunk bed position where seat cushions are used on the bunk and a mattress is available for a lower bunk, the cylinders being lockable and a brace and latter are deployable and lockable to secure the bunk.

A sofa bed is convertible to a bunk bed using front and rear links coacting with gas cylinders to lift a bunk frame from the sofa position, in which it is used for seating, to a bunk bed position where seat cushions are used on the bunk and a mattress is available for a lower bunk, being lockable in a down, or seating position and lockable in and up, or bunk bed position with a brace and ladder deployable to secure the bunk.

A seating unit having a foldable bed includes: a base with an internal cavity and a rear wall; a foldable bed that includes separate and distinct head, intermediate and seat sections, wherein in a folded position, the intermediate and seat sections are generally horizontally disposed and positioned in vertically stacked relationship, and the head section is generally vertically disposed and positioned adjacent the rear wall of the base, and in an unfolded position, the head, intermediate and seat sections are generally horizontally disposed and in serial alignment with each other; and a bed folding mechanism that is attached to the base and the head, intermediate and seat sections that controls the movement of the bed between the folded and unfolded positions.

A seating unit having a foldable bed includes: a base with an internal cavity and a rear wall; a foldable bed that includes separate and distinct head, intermediate and seat sections, wherein in a folded position, the intermediate and seat sections are generally horizontally disposed and positioned in vertically stacked relationship, and the head section is generally vertically disposed and positioned adjacent the rear wall of the base, and in an unfolded position, the head, intermediate and seat sections are generally horizontally disposed and in serial alignment with each other; and a bed folding mechanism that is attached to the base and the head, intermediate and seat sections that controls the movement of the bed between the folded and unfolded positions.

A bed assembly and method of use for connecting a foldable bed frame to the back support of a sofa. The assembly includes a first slotted link attached to the back support and a double slotted link affixed to the foldable bed frame. An L-shaped adjustment link defining a plurality of apertures is slidably connected to the slotted link and pivotably connected to the double slotted link whereby folding the bed frame causes the back support to displace along the first slotted link. Depending on whether the foldable bed frame is being removed from or inserted into the storage cavity within the sofa, the displacement of the back support along the slotted link causes the space between the bed frame and the back support to change.
