Lubricant Composition
A lubricant composition includes a base oil and an additive package. The additive package includes a seal compatibility additive chosen from a halide seal compatibility additive, an epoxide seal compatibility additive, a boroxine seal compatibility additive, a sulfonate ester seal compatibility additive, and combinations thereof. The alkoxylated amide and the ester are set forth in general formulas A and B, respectively: In general formulas A and B, each R.sup.13, R.sup.II, R.sup.III, and R.sup.IV, is, independently, a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, hydrocarbyl group. In addition, at least one of R.sup.II and R.sup.III include an alkoxy group, and R.sup.IV includes an amine group.

Provided are a lubricating oil composition containing (A) a specific amide compound and (B) a metal-based detergent, wherein the content of the metal-based detergent (B) as converted in terms of metal atom is, based on the total amount of the composition, more than 300 ppm by mass and 1,000 ppm by mass or less, and having a high intermetallic friction coefficient and excellent clutch anti-shudder performance; and a lubrication method and a transmission using the composition.

The invention relates to the use of specific quaternised nitrogen compounds which are also subjected to specific transesterification or amidation, as a fuel and lubricant additive or kerosene additive, such as in particular as a detergent additive, for decreasing or preventing deposits in the injection systems of direct-injection diesel engines, in particular in common rail injection systems, for decreasing the fuel consumption of direct-injection diesel engines, in particular of diesel engines having common rail injection systems, and for minimizing the power loss in direct-injection diesel engines, in particular in diesel engines having common rail injection systems. The invention further relates to the use as an additive for petrol, in particular for operation of DISI engines.
