SOOT DISPERSANT
The present invention is directed to a use of a lubricant in a diesel engine to disperse soot produced by the diesel engine, the soot being dispersed without adversely affecting the viscosity of the lubricant; the lubricant comprising a major amount of oil of lubricating viscosity and a minor amount of a dispersant comprising (i) one or more olefin, (ii) one or more carboxylic acid, (iii) one or more polyetheramines and (iv) one or more aromatic amines along with co-additives.

Grafted Polymer with Soot Handling Properties
The present disclosure relates to oxazoline modified lubricant additives that have dispersant properties and lubricating oil compositions comprising said dispersant lubricant additives. The disclosure also relates to the use of lubricant compositions comprising the additives of the disclosure for improving the soot or sludge handling characteristics of an engine lubricant composition, while minimizing the deterioration of engine seals.
VISCOSITY INDEX IMPROVER AND LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
A viscosity index improver comprising a copolymer having a unit (a) derived from a maleimide monomer and a unit (b) derived from a macromonomer, wherein viscosity measured by the following method is 8000 mPa.Math.s or less. Viscosity measurement method: A solution composed of 78 mass % of a Group III base oil (viscosity index: 122, kinematic viscosity at 40 C.: 19.6 mm.sup.2/s) on the American Petroleum Institute (API) classification and 22 mass % of the copolymer is measured with a viscometer (TVB-10 manufactured by Toki Sangyo Co., Ltd., rotor: SPINDLE No. M3, rotation speed: 6 rpm) at 25 C.
Method for Reduction of Abnormal Combustion Events
This invention relates to methods to reduce abnormal combustion events in the operation of an internal combustion engine comprising using a lubricating oil composition comprising/resulting from the admixing of: (i) base oil, (ii) detergent, preferably providing at least 800 ppm Mg and less than 500 ppm Ca; and (iii) abnormal combustion event inhibitor compound(s), preferably comprising at least one phosphorus containing compound providing greater than 0.12 mass % phosphorus; wherein: 1) the lubricating oil composition is a SAE 10W-X, SAE 5W-X or SAE 0W-X blend, where X is 8, 12, 16, 20, or 30; and 2) when the lubricating oil composition is combined with an 88 octane reference fuel, the combination completes at least 1 iteration of 175,000 cycles per iteration, as determined by Sequence IX Test, ASTM D829.

DISPERSANT VISCOSITY MODIFIERS WITH AMINE FUNCTIONALITY
A lubricating composition includes an oil of lubricating viscosity and an oil-soluble dispersant viscosity modifier. The dispersant viscosity modifier includes an olefin-based polymer backbone and at least one pendent group derived from a functionalized aliphatic amine. Each pendent group is independently attached to the olefin-based polymer backbone. The pendent group is non-ionic, non-basic, and non-acidic and includes a functional group which includes at least one heteroatom other than nitrogen.
DISPERSANT VISCOSITY MODIFIERS WITH AMINE FUNCTIONALITY
A lubricating composition includes an oil of lubricating viscosity and an oil-soluble dispersant viscosity modifier. The dispersant viscosity modifier includes an olefin-based polymer backbone and at least one pendent group derived from a functionalized aliphatic amine. Each pendent group is independently attached to the olefin-based polymer backbone. The pendent group is non-ionic, non-basic, and non-acidic and includes a functional group which includes at least one heteroatom other than nitrogen.
STABLE LUBRICANT EMULSION
A stable lubricant emulsion composition for use in engine and gear applications is provided. The emulsion includes a base petroleum oil, an aqueous salt solution that functions as a friction/wear modifier, and a polymeric non-ionic surfactant composition having a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance value in the range of 2.5 to 7 and an average molecular weight in the range of 1,000 to 3,000. The surfactant composition may include a polyester surfactant, a PIB succinimide surfactant, a PIB amine surfactant, or a mixture thereof.
