Dispersants, method of making, and using same
Disclosed is a dispersant composition, suitable for use in lubricating oils. The dispersant composition is a reaction product of (i) a polyalkenyl succinimide post-treated with a post-treating agent selected from the group consisting of an organic carbonate, an epoxide, a lactone, a hydroxyaliphatic carboxylic acid, and combinations thereof; and (ii) an acylating agent.

A fully-formulating lubricating composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity; an ionic tetrahedral borate compound including a tetrahedral borate anion having a boron atom with two bidentate di-oxo ligands both being a linear C18-tartrimide; a first dispersant comprising a conventional ammonium substituted polyisobutenyl succinimide compound having a polyisobutenyl number average molecular weight of 750 to 2,500; a second dispersant comprising an ammonium substituted polyisobutenyl succinimde compound having an N:CO ratio of 1.8 and a polyisobutylenyl number average molecular weight of 750 to 2,500, wherein one or more of the first dispersant and the second dispersant are in cationic form. The fully formulated lubricating composition including one or more performance additives.

A fully-formulating lubricating composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity; an ionic tetrahedral borate compound including a tetrahedral borate anion having a boron atom with two bidentate di-oxo ligands both being a linear C18-tartrimide; a first dispersant comprising a conventional ammonium substituted polyisobutenyl succinimide compound having a polyisobutenyl number average molecular weight of 750 to 2,500; a second dispersant comprising an ammonium substituted polyisobutenyl succinimde compound having an N:CO ratio of 1.8 and a polyisobutylenyl number average molecular weight of 750 to 2,500, wherein one or more of the first dispersant and the second dispersant are in cationic form. The fully formulated lubricating composition including one or more performance additives.
Amino Acid Grafted Polymer with Soot Handling Properties
The present disclosure relates to lubricant additives such as dispersants and dispersant viscosity modifiers including acyl peptide grafted polymers and lubricating oil compositions comprising such additives. The disclosure also relates to the use of lubricant compositions comprising the additives herein for improving the soot or sludge handling characteristics of an engine lubricant composition and while minimizing the deterioration of engine's elastomer compatibility.

Polyolefin-derived dispersants
Ethylene-C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha olefin copolymers, dispersants and lubricating oils/fuel compositions incorporating dispersants, and related methods are generally described herein. The copolymer may comprise ethylene-derived units and C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units. The C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units may have a carbon number from three to ten. For example, the C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units may be propylene-derived units.
Polyolefin-derived dispersants
Ethylene-C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha olefin copolymers, dispersants and lubricating oils/fuel compositions incorporating dispersants, and related methods are generally described herein. The copolymer may comprise ethylene-derived units and C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units. The C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units may have a carbon number from three to ten. For example, the C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units may be propylene-derived units.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
A lubricating oil composition may contain a base oil (A) and a dispersant-type viscosity index improver (B), in which the nitrogen atom content based on the solid content of the dispersant-type viscosity index improver (B) is 0.50 to 1.50% by mass, and the weight-average molecular weight (Mw) thereof is 100,000 or more, and the content in terms of the solid content based on the total amount of the composition of the dispersant-type viscosity index improver (B) is more than 0.05% by mass and less than 5.0% by mass. The lubricating oil composition may exert excellent wear resistance in a state contaminated with soot.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
A lubricating oil composition may contain a base oil (A) and a dispersant-type viscosity index improver (B), in which the nitrogen atom content based on the solid content of the dispersant-type viscosity index improver (B) is 0.50 to 1.50% by mass, and the weight-average molecular weight (Mw) thereof is 100,000 or more, and the content in terms of the solid content based on the total amount of the composition of the dispersant-type viscosity index improver (B) is more than 0.05% by mass and less than 5.0% by mass. The lubricating oil composition may exert excellent wear resistance in a state contaminated with soot.
