Composition and method of forming the same

A composition comprises the reaction product of a dithiophosphate derivative and an amine. The reaction product is present in the composition in an amount of at least about 25 wt. %. The composition may include additional components. A method of forming the composition comprises the step of combining the dithiophosphate derivative and the amine to form the composition. A method of increasing thermal stability of a dithiophosphate derivative comprises the step of combining the dithiophosphate derivative and an amine. The dithiophosphate derivative can decompose to form hydrogen sulfide (H2S). However, the amine substantially prevents thermal decomposition of the dithiophosphate derivative. An example of the dithiophosphate derivative is 3-(di-isobutoxy-thiophosphorylsulfanyl)-2-methyl-propanoic acid. An example of the amine is ditridecyl amine. The composition can be used for a variety of applications. For example, the composition can be used as an antiwear compound/additive in lubricants, metalworking fluids, hydraulic fluids, etc.

Functionalised Copolymers and Lubricating Compositions Thereof

The present invention relates to a lubricating composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and a (thio)phosphate salt of an amine-functionalized esterified copolymer, wherein the esterified copolymer comprises units derived from monomers: (i) an -olefin and (ii) an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or derivatives thereof, that are esterified with an alcohol, or mixtures thereof, and wherein at least a portion of carboxylic acid groups not esterified react with an amine. The invention further provides for a lubricating composition containing said copolymer. The invention further provides a method and use of lubricating composition in a mechanical device.

LUBRICANT COMPOSITION CONTAINING AN ANTIWEAR AGENT

The invention provides a lubricant composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and 0.01 wt % to 15 wt % of a (thio)phosphoric acid salt of an N-hydrocarbyl-substituted gamma-(-) or delta-amino(thio)ester. The invention further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device with the lubricant composition.

Lubricating composition containing an antiwear agent

The invention provides a lubricating composition containing an antiwear agent and an oil of lubricating viscosity. The invention further relates to the use of the lubricating composition in a mechanical device such as an internal combustion engine, or a driveline device.
