Metal cleaning compositions comprising furoate esters and uses therefor
Disclosed are metal cleaning formulations and methods of use. A formulation of the present teachings comprises one or more furoate esters such as ethyl 5-methyl-2-furoate and methyl 5-methyl-2-furoate. The formulations further comprise a base oil, which can be, for example, a naphthenic oil, a synthetic oil or a combination thereof. In some embodiments, a formulation can further comprise a metal protection additive and a lubrication additive. A variety of base oils, metal protection additives, and lubrication additives are suitable for use in the present teachings. Formulations of the present teachings are especially useful for the cleaning of metal products such as firearms. The cleaning power of a formulation of the instant teachings can exceed that required for US Military Specifications.

An engine oil composition including greater than 50 wt. % of a base oil of lubricating viscosity selected from a Group III, a Group IV or a Group V base oil, and mixtures thereof, 0.1-10 wt. % of a dispersant viscosity index improver that a reaction product of an olefin copolymer, an acylating agent and a polyamine, one or more calcium-containing detergents that provide from about 900 ppmw to about 2500 ppmw of calcium to the engine oil composition, and one or more molybdenum-containing compounds. The engine oil composition has an SAE viscosity grade of 0W-X or 5W-X, wherein X=16, 20, 30, or 40; from about 500 ppmw to about 1000 ppmw of phosphorus; and a total sulfated ash content of no greater than 1.2 wt. %, as measured by ASTM D874. Methods of using the engine oil composition to lubricate or operate an engine are also described.
Non-newtonian engine oil lubricant compositions for superior fuel economy
Provided is an engine oil lubricant composition with improved fuel efficiency. The engine oil lubricant composition may include: a polyalpha olefin base oil component an amount of about 50 wt % to about 90 wt % based on a total weight of the engine oil lubricant composition, wherein the polyalpha olefin base oil component is a Group IV base oil and has a Noack volatility of about 12.5% to about 15%; a Group II base oil component in an amount of about 0.1 wt % to about 50 wt % based on the total weight of the engine oil lubricant composition. The engine oil lubricant composition may have (i) a kinematic viscosity at 100? C. of about 10 cSt or less, (ii) a high temperature high shear viscosity at 150? C. of about 2.2 cP or less, and (iii) a Noack volatility of about 20% or less.
Grease composition, and rolling bearing
A grease composition including: a base oil; a thickener; a zinc sulfonate; a polysulfide; an overbased calcium sulfonate; and triphenyl phosphite, in which a proportion of the zinc sulfonate with respect to a total mass of the base oil and the thickener is 0.030 mass % to 0.045 mass % in terms of a zinc content, a proportion of the polysulfide with respect to the total mass of the base oil and the thickener is 0.16 mass % to 0.24 mass % in terms of a sulfur content, a proportion of the overbased calcium sulfonate with respect to the total mass of the base oil and the thickener is 0.010 mass % to 0.015 mass % in terms of a calcium content, and a proportion of the triphenyl phosphite with respect to the total mass of the base oil and the thickener is 0.24 mass % to 0.36 mass %.
