The present invention provides an electrorheological fluid, which includes a dielectric particle, a conductor particle and insulating oil, and the dielectric particle is evenly dispersed in the insulating oil; wherein the conductor particle is evenly dispersed in the insulating oil or inlaid in an interior and on a surface of the dielectric particle. The electrorheological fluid has the advantages of high shear stress, long service life, good temperature stability and small leakage current.

METAL NANOPARTICLES AS LUBRICANT ADDITIVES
A lubricant composition comprising: (i) silver or gold nanoparticles, each of which is encapsulated by a layer of alkylthiol or alkylamine molecules; (ii) palladium or platinum nanoparticles, each of which is encapsulated by a layer of alkylthiol or alkylamine molecules; and (iii) a fluid in which components (i) and (ii) are present. Provided are a method for simultaneously and stably dispersing spherical nanoparticles in an oil medium by using layered nanosheets and an application thereof. The method comprises: (1) mixing the layered nanosheets and oil-soluble alkylamines to obtain a first mixture containing intercalated/exfoliated nano sheets; (2) mixing spherical nanoparticles and the oil medium to obtain a second mixture; and (3) mixing the first mixture, the second mixture and the oil medium to obtain a third mixture.

An object of the present invention is to provide a high-aspect-ratio plate-like alumina particle having low aggregability and high dispersibility and a method for producing the particle. The above problem is solved by providing a plate-like alumina particle including a step of firing an aluminum compound in the presence of a shape-controlling agent and a molybdenum compound serving as a fluxing agent. The above problem is solved also by providing a method for producing a plate-like alumina particle, the method including a step in which the aluminum compound and the molybdenum compound react with each other to form aluminum molybdate and a step in which the aluminum molybdate is decomposed to obtain the plate-like alumina particle.
