Low-friction and low-adhesion materials and coatings
Disclosed are materials that possess both low adhesion and the ability to absorb water. The material passively absorbs water from the atmosphere and then expels this water upon impact with debris, to create a self-cleaning layer. The lubrication reduces friction and surface adhesion of the debris (such as an insect), which may then slide off the surface. The invention provides a material comprising a continuous matrix including a polymer having a low surface energy (less than 50 mJ/m.sup.2) and a plurality of inclusions, dispersed within the matrix, each comprising a hygroscopic material. The continuous matrix and the inclusions form a lubricating surface layer in the presence of humidity. The material optionally contains porous nanostructures that inject water back onto the surface after an impact, absorbing water under pressure and then releasing water when the pressure is removed. The material may be a coating or a surface, for example.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS
Lubricant composition formulations comprising at least one biodegradable plastic, such as polyhydroxyalkanoate and/or polybutylene succinate, and at least one lubricant, such as a vegetable oil.
Lubrication method
A method of lubricating an expandable rubber bladder is described for use during a vulcanization of a green tire within a metal press. The method can include applying compositions in the form of emulsions of silicone oils to the inner surface of the green tires and/or to the outer surface of the vulcanization bladders to facilitate the molding-demolding thereof during the manufacture of the tires.
Coated fabric products
This relates to the coating of air bags, which are used for safety purposes to protect occupants of vehicles such as automobiles, and of air bag fabrics intended to be made into air bags. In particular the invention relates to the top coating of air bags and air bag fabrics which have been pre-coated with a cured organic resin coating composition. The top-coat is an anti-blocking coating composition comprising at least one solid lubricant dispersed in an organic polymer binder. A process for applying the top-coat is also described.
WATER-SOLUBLE QUENCHING OIL COMPOSITION
A water-soluble quenching fluid composition prepared by blending: water, at least one kind selected from a polyoxyalkylene glycol and a derivative thereof (A), and at least one kind selected from an alkylene glycol ether (B) and a monocarboxylic acid (C), the polyoxyalkylene glycol or a derivative thereof (A) having a mass average molecular weight of 10,000 or more and 100,000 or less, the alkylene glycol ether (B) having a boiling point of 200 C. or more and a molecular weight per 1 mol of 1,000 g/mol or less.
Lubricant compositions
Lubricant composition formulations comprising at least one biodegradable plastic, such as polyhydroxyalkanoate and/or polybutylene succinate, and at least one lubricant, such as a vegetable oil.
Metal surface coating composition and terminal fitted electric wire
A metal surface coating composition and a terminal-fitted electric wire which is anti-corrosion treated with the composition are provided. The composition includes a high-consistency material containing a lubricant base oil and an amide compound, a composition of a phosphorus compound containing one or more compounds represented by the below formulae and a metal, and a nucleating agent: ##STR00001## where X.sup.1 to X.sup.7 each represent an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, R.sup.11 to R.sup.13 each represent a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, among which at least one is a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, and R.sup.14 to R.sup.16 each represent a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms among which at least one is a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms.
Lubricant for gas insulated switchgear, and gas insulated switchgear
Provided is a lubricant for a gas insulated switchgear, with which properties of a base oil such as heat resistance, evaporation loss, fluidity under a low temperature, and chemical stability (oxidation resistance and HF resistance) are balanced at a level higher than the conventional level, and long service life and high reliability of the gas insulated switchgear are achieved. A lubricant for a gas insulated switchgear according to the present invention, contains: a base oil containing a polyalphaolefin having a kinematic viscosity at 40 C. of 50 mm.sup.2/s or more; and a thickener containing bisamides.
Auxiliary emergency protective lubrication system for metal mechanical components
An auxiliary lubricant comprising a composition, the comprising intermediate molecular weight surfactant-functionalized nanoparticles dispersed in a base oil.
Coated Fabric Products
An air bag coated with a cured organopolysiloxane composition, characterized in that the air bag is top coated with an antifriction coating comprising at least one solid lubricant dispersed in an organic polymer binder.
