Drilling fluid

The present invention relates to drilling fluid comprising one or more linear internal olefin having from 15 to 18 carbon atoms and containing less than 25% branching based on the total amount of the linear internal olefin and a hydrogenated Fischer-Tropsch derived product.

METHOD FOR CREATING WHITE ALKANES FROM NON-PETROLEUM RENEWABLE SOURCES

The present invention describes a method to produce high purity hydrocarbon materials from renewable sources. The produced materials are chemically indistinguishable from highly refined mineral oils and/or synthetic hydrocarbons. These renewable hydrocarbon materials can be used as a drop-in replacement for mineral and synthetic hydrocarbon base oils, process fluids, white oils in products such as lubricants, rubber, personal care, pharma.

Grease composition for constant velocity joints

A grease composition is intended primarily for use in constant velocity joints (CV joints), especially ball joints and/or tripod joints, which are used in the driveline of motor vehicles. The grease composition for use in constant velocity joints comprises at least one base oil, at least one thickener, zinc sulfide, as well as molybdenum disulfide and/or tungsten disulfide. Further, a constant velocity joint comprises the grease composition.

Prelubricated stock sheet and method and system for making the same

A pre-lubricated stock sheet and a method and system for making the same are described. The pre-lubricated stock is generally in a coil wound form. The stock sheet can have opposing first and second sheet surfaces joined together by opposing side edges and opposing ends. Typically, the first and second sheet surfaces are substantially smooth and planar, wherein the sheet has 3 mg/foot.sup.2/side to about 200 mg/foot.sup.2/side of a solid lubricant having a melting temperature from about 80 to 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Moreover, the opposing side edges usually are substantially free of the solid lubricant. In some configurations, the stock sheet is an aluminum stock sheet, more particularly an aluminum can stock sheet. Furthermore, the lubricant can be in some configurations a food grade lubricant, that is qualifies a low volatile organic compound under one or more of municipal, state and federal governing authorities.

Drilling fluid for downhole electrocrushing drilling

The disclosure relates to an electrocrushing drilling fluid with an electrocrushing drilling base fluid including a non-polar oil, water, and glycerin. The base fluid may further include a polar oil and an alkylene carbonate. The electrocrushing drilling fluid may further contain at least one additive. The electrocrushing drilling fluid may have a dielectric constant or dielectric strength of at least a set amount, an electric conductivity less than a set amount, or a combination of these properties. The disclosure further relates to an electrocrushing drilling system containing the electrocrushing drilling fluid and an electrocrushing drill bit.

Traction Fluids

The disclosed technology relates to a traction fluid containing a base fluid having at least one of cedrene, cedrol, thujopsene or mixtures thereof, preferably provided from cedar oil, as well as a method of lubricating a power transmission apparatus with the traction fluid.

PHASE CHANGE MATERIAL COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR THEIR USE TO LOWER SURFACE FRICTION AND WEAR

Phase change material compositions and methods for using the compositions to prepare substrate coatings or bulk blended polymers that advantageously lower friction between interacting substrate surfaces and lower substrate surface wear.

Compositions containing difluoromethane, tetrafluoropropene, and carbon dioxide and uses thereof

In accordance with the present invention refrigerant compositions are disclosed. The compositions comprise a refrigerant mixture consisting essentially of HFC-32, HFO-1234yf, and CO.sub.2. The compositions are useful as refrigerants in processes to produce cooling and heating, in methods for replacing refrigerant R-410A, and in refrigeration, air conditioning or heat pump systems. These inventive compositions match cooling capacity for R-410A within ±10% with GWP less than 400 or less than 300.

BIO-BASED BASE OILS FROM FATTY ACIDS AND BIOMASS

Disclosed herein are lubricant compositions containing 75-99% by weight of a base oil that includes one or more branched aliphatic compounds having the following formula: R.sub.1R.sub.2HC—CH.sub.2—CHR.sub.3R.sub.4 (I) wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 are independently selected from alkyl groups having 8 to 26 carbon atoms, and R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 are independently selected from the group consisting of H and alkyl groups having 5 to 7 carbon atoms, with a proviso that at least one of R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 is not hydrogen. The alkyl groups are substituted or unsubstituted, or branched or unbranched; R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 may be the same or different; and the total carbon content of the branched aliphatic compound of formula (I) is in the range of 26 to 66. The lubricant compositions also include an effective amount of one or more additives. Also, disclosed herein are processes for making such compositions and their uses in pharmaceutical and personal care products.
