Renewable base oil in lubricant formulations
A C.sub.31 renewable base oil is disclosed that is suitable as a base oil to provide low viscosity base oils, such as having both low Noack volatility and low CCS-30° C. viscosity and/or to provide low viscosity base oils at the same time having a combination of acceptable HTHS and KV100 to allow the industry's base oil blenders to formulate high quality engine oils, such as SAE grade 0W-20, 0W-16, 0W-12 or 0W-8.
DURABLE MAGNET WIRES AND LUBRICATING FLUIDS FOR ELECTRIC AND HYBRID VEHICLE APPLICATIONS
The present disclosure relates to a driveline for an electric or hybrid-electric vehicle including an electric motor with an insulated magnet wire and a lubricating and cooling fluid configured to maintain the durability of the magnet wire.
BIO-LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS THEREOF
The present disclosure provides a method of producing a lubricant composition comprising the steps of hydrolyzing a starting material to provide a hydrolyzed product mixture, reacting the hydrolyzed product mixture under conditions capable of producing a condensation product mixture, contacting the condensation product mixture with a cyclic compound to provide a coupled product mixture, and hydrogenating the coupled product mixture to provide the lubricant composition. In addition, other methods and compositions thereof are also provided.
Olefins and methods for making the same
Provided herein are olefinic feedstocks derived from conjugated hydrocarbon terpenes (e.g., C.sub.10-C.sub.50 terpenes), methods for making the same, and methods for their use.
Metal-working fluid compositions and methods for making
The disclosure relates to a biobased metal-working fluid (MWF) composition and method for making same, and more particularly metal-working fluid with biobased lubricants with improved emulsion stability. At least 50 wt. % of the base oil component in the MWF concentrate is a plant-derived liquid decarboxylated rosin acid oil (“DCR”). The DCR comprises 50 to 100 wt. % of tricyclic compounds having 18-20 carbon atoms, one or more C═C groups, and m/z (mass/charge) value of 220-280; an oxygen content of <5%; a density of 0.9 to 1.0 g/cm.sup.3 at 20° C.; and an acid value of <10 mg KOH/g. The resulting MWF is characterized as having comparable if not better performance compared to a MWF containing only mineral oil (e.g., Group I or Group II).
GREASE COMPOSITION FOR CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINTS
A grease composition is intended primarily for use in constant velocity joints (CV joints), especially ball joints and/or tripod joints, which are used in the driveline of motor vehicles. The grease composition for use in constant velocity joints comprises at least one base oil, at least one thickener, zinc sulfide, as well as molybdenum disulfide and/or tungsten disulfide. Further, a constant velocity joint comprises the grease composition.
PENETRATING OIL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
A penetrating oil including isoalkane solvent and oil derived from biological sources and a method for producing the same, are disclosed. Use of a composition containing isoalkane solvent and oil derived from biological sources is further disclosed.
Lubricant and method for manufacturing magnesium alloy tubes
A lubricant includes at least 45 wt % paraffin oil, less than 8 wt % of a pyrophosphate or triphosphate, more than 6 wt % of a group 6 disulfide or diselenide and up to 27.5 wt % of graphite. The lubricant is used in a method for producing a magnesium alloy tube via extrusion, and is especially useful to form implants such as stents while maintaining the biocompatibility of the magnesium alloy.
LUBRICANT, ELECTRIC CONTACT, CONNECTOR TERMINAL, AND WIRE HARNESS
Provided are a lubricant whereby particles including a fluororesin can be dispersed and adhered to the surface of an object without the use of a fluorine-based oil as a base oil, an electrical contact having such a lubricant on the surface thereof, and a connector terminal and a wire harness provided with such an electrical contact. The present invention provides a lubricant containing a base oil and resin particles including a trifluoroethylene resin, the content of the resin particles being more than 10 mass % with respect to the mass of the base oil. The present invention also provides an electrical contact 1 which has a metal material as a base material 11 and which electrically contacts another electroconductive member 2, the electrical contact 1 having a layer 14 of the abovementioned lubricant on the surface of the base material. The present invention furthermore provides a connector terminal having the abovementioned electrical contact 1 in a portion thereof for making electrical contact with a mating connector terminal. The present invention also provides a wire harness having the connector terminal.
