APPARATUS, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LUBRICATION OF FLUID DISPLACEMENT MACHINES
Apparatuses, systems, and methods are provided for the lubrication of fluid displacement machines, in particular positive displacement machines such as twin screw expanders utilized in organic Rankine cycle systems, comprising a working fluid mixed with a lubricant that is neither soluble nor miscible in the liquid phase of the working fluid.
PHOSPHATE COMPOSITION
A process for the preparation of a composition comprising amine-containing phosphate glycerides including: phosphorylating a solution which comprises mixed glycerides that contain fatty acid portions and an amine under conditions which are substantially water-free and under which said phosphorous pentoxide reacts with reactive constituents in said solution to form said amine-containing phosphate glycerides and a lubricating composition comprising a lubricant, the aforesaid composition in an amount which improves the properties of the lubricating composition, and optionally one or more other constituents which improve the properties of the lubricating composition.
COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING FLUORINE SUBSTITUTED OLEFINS AND METHODS AND SYSTEMS USING SAME
Disclosed are the use of fluorine substituted olefins, including tetra- and penta-fluoropropenes, in a variety of applications, including in methods of depositing catalyst on a solid support, methods of sterilizing articles, cleaning methods and compositions, methods of applying medicaments, fire extinguishing/suppression compositions and methods, flavor formulations, fragrance formulations and inflating agents.
Aromatic Monoester Compositions and Processes for Preparing Same
This disclosure relates to compositions that include one or more aromatic monoesters derived from branched Guerbet alcohols and aromatic acids, or from branched Guerbet acids and aromatic alcohols. The compositions are suitable as lubricant base stocks.
Use of R-1233 in liquid chillers
This invention relates to the use of chloro-trifluoropropenes as refrigerants in negative-pressure liquid chillers and methods of replacing an existing refrigerant in a chiller with chloro-trifluoropropenes. The chloro-trifluoropropenes, particularly 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene, have high efficiency and unexpectedly high capacity in liquid chiller applications and are useful as more environmentally sustainable refrigerants for such applications, including the replacement of R-123 and R-11.
Lubricant Base Stock Blends
Disclosed is a lubricant base stock blend comprising a PAO base stock and an alkylated aromatics (AA) base stock, wherein at least the longer portion of the pendant groups attached to the carbon backbones of the PAO molecules have comparable length to at least the longer portion of the side chain groups attached to the aromatic ring structure of the AA molecules. The comparable lengths of at least the longer portion of the pendant groups and the side chain groups lead to enhanced improvement in oxidation stability of the blend.
Production of lubricant base stocks with controlled aromatic contents
Methods are provided for producing Group II and Group III base stocks with a controlled or consistent aromatics content. An aromatics-rich base stock, such as a Group I base stock or an alkylated aromatic base stock, can be added to the catalytically treated base stock in a minimal amount after the final catalytic treatment step but prior to fractionation. At the beginning of a processing run for forming lubricant base stock products, about 0.25 wt % to about 1.25 wt % of the Group I base stock can be added to a catalytically processed feed after the final catalytic processing stage but prior to fractionation to form the Group II and/or Group III base stock. During the course of the processing run, the amount of Group I base stock added can be reduced roughly in correspondence with the increase in aromatics caused by catalyst deactivation. This can allow a catalytically processed lubricant base stock product to be generated that contains at least about a threshold (minimum) aromatics content during the course of a processing run. Alternatively, this can allow a catalytically processed lubricant base stock product to be generated that has consistent aromatics content during the course of the processing run.
COMPOSITION FOR USE IN OILS
A composition comprising a sheared antifoam solution/mixture with a mean particle size from about 0.01 microns to about 0.5 microns and a maximum particle size of less than about 1 micron. In this composition the sheared antifoam solution/mixture comprises antifoam solution/mixture comprising an antifoam and a base stock.
LOW VISCOSITY LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITIONS FOR TURBOMACHINES
This disclosure relates to a low viscosity lubricating turbine oil having a composition comprising a lubricating oil base stock, as a major component, and one or more lubricating oil additives, as minor components. The lubricating turbine oil has a kinematic viscosity of about 16 cSt to about 22 cSt at 40 C., a density of about 0.8 g/ml to about 0.9 g/ml, and an absolute evaporation loss at 150 C. of less than about 4%. This disclosure also relates to a method for improving energy efficiency in a turbomachine lubricated with the low viscosity lubricating turbine oil. This disclosure further relates to a method for improving energy efficiency while maintaining or improving deposit control and lubricating oil additive solvency in a turbomachine lubricated with the low viscosity lubricating turbine oil. This disclosure yet further relates to a method for improving solubility, compatibility and dispersancy of polar additives in the low viscosity lubricating turbine oil.
