Lubricants and methods to determine dewetting thickness thereof
A lubricant including a plurality of segments including a divalent center segment and two sidechain segments, each including a perfluoroalkyl ether moieties is provided in which a dewetting thickness of the lubricant may be determined based in-part on a segment weight average molecular weight of the segments. A magnetic recording medium and a magnetic data storage system including the lubricant are also provided.
HIGH TEMPERATURE LUBRICANTS FOR MAGNETIC MEDIA
High temperature lubricants for magnetic media are provided. One such lubricant includes fluoroalkyl, fluoroalkenyl, perfluoroalkyl, or perfluoroalkyl ether segments, anchoring functional groups engageable with a protective overcoat of a magnetic recording media, and cyclic functional groups. The lubricants can be used in conjunction with a magnetic recording medium and/or a magnetic data storage system.
LOW PROFILE LUBRICANTS FOR DATA STORAGE DEVICES
Low-profile thermally stable lubricants for data storage devices are provided based on multi-dentate molecular designs. One such lubricant comprises perfluoroalkyl ether segments, a divalent linking segment, and anchoring functional groups attachable to, or engageable with, a protective overcoat of a magnetic recording medium. The lubricants can be used in conjunction with a magnetic recording medium and/or a magnetic data storage system.
Fluorine-containing ether compound, lubricant for magnetic recording medium, and magnetic recording medium
The present invention relates to a fluorine-containing ether compound represented by Formula (1),
R.sup.1—R.sup.2—CH.sub.2—R.sup.3—CH.sub.2—R.sup.4 (1).
(In Formula (1), R.sup.1 is an end group including an organic group having at least one double bond or triple bond, R.sup.2 is a divalent linking group bonded to R.sup.1 by etheric oxygen, R.sup.3 is a perfluoropolyether chain, R.sup.4 is an end group having two or three polar groups with each polar group being bonded to different carbon atoms, and the carbon atoms, to which the polar groups are bonded, being bonded to each other via a linking group including carbon atoms to which the polar groups are not bonded.)
FLUOROPOLYETHER COMPOUND, LUBRICANT USING SAME AND USAGE THEREOF
An object of an aspect of the present invention is to provide: a lubricant excellent in adsorbability on the surface of a magnetic disk and in contamination resistance; and a magnetic disk which uses the lubricant and which is excellent in durability. The lubricant in accordance with an aspect of the present invention contains a fluoropolyether compound having, at a terminal thereof, a hydroxyalkenyl group or a hydroxyalkynyl group.
WORKING FLUID COMPOSITIONS
The present invention relates to a composition suitable to be used as working fluid, said composition being in the form of a solution and comprising at least one (per)fluoropolyether polymer [polymer (P)] and at least one amorphous polymer [polymer (F)].
ELECTRORHEOLOGICAL FLUID AND ELECTRIC DEVICE
An electrorheological fluid which comprises a dispersion medium containing fluorine atoms in an amount larger than 0 wt % but not larger than 50.0 wt % and particles for electrorheological fluid use that are contained in the dispersion medium in an amount of 10-50 vol % of the total volume of the dispersion medium and the particles, the particles comprising a sulfonic-acid-group-containing polymer having a sulfonic acid group content of 30-70 wt %.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS
A lubricant composition said composition comprising at least one base oil and from 1 to 70 wt % of at least one friction modifying additive, wherein the composition is such that the viscosity reversibly reduces at a pressure from 50 MPa to 3 GPa. A mechanical system comprising the lubricant composition; use of the lubricant composition and methods of reducing friction using the lubricant composition are also disclosed.
Fluorine-containing ether compound, lubricant for magnetic recording medium, and magnetic recording medium
