Thermally responsive brush polymers having a copolymer backbone and copolymer arms
The description involves a brush copolymer composition comprising a copolymeric backbone including monomeric repeat units of at least two different acrylate monomers and copolymeric brush arms including monomeric repeat units of at least two different acylated poly(alkylene amine)s, in which the brush arms, the brush copolymer, or both may advantageously exhibit UCST behavior, e.g, in hydrocarbon diluent. Methods of making such copolymers using RAFT and CROP (pseudo-)living reaction processes are also described herein.
LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS
A liquid composition for providing enhanced lubrication and wear protection, particularly under high-performance and/or extreme-pressure conditions. The composition comprises components that are solubilized, liquified, liquefacted, or sub-micronized, and are formulated to result in a stable, color-tunable composition that can be stored or implemented over extended periods of time without separation of solid components from the liquid. A composition can be a lubricant in which the solubilized, liquified, liquefacted, and/or sub-micronized components are comprised within a base oil, or an additive composition in which the components are formulated to be later added to a base oil. Suitable base oils are industrial, automotive, or open gear oils such as those used in the oil and gas industry, sugar mills, or in rock crushers; rock drill, pneumatic, and air tool oils; anti-seize compounds; cutting, gun, engine, air compressor, or bearing oils; slideway lubricants; and oven, kiln, foundry, metalworking, metalforming, or aerospace lubricants.
Multiphase composite lubricant
A multiphase composite lubricant for a railway lubricant stick that can be used in both low and high temperature applications. The composition of the multiphase composite lubricant includes an amount of a lubricant, an amount of a thermoplastic lattice components that forms a lattice structure, and a polymer extender.
COMPOSITION, LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION AND GREASE COMPOSITION
A composition containing metal based nanoparticles (X), a polymer (Y), and a dispersion medium, the polymer (Y) being a vinyl polymer having a chain-like alkyl group having 10 to 28 carbon atoms and a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group, the metal based nanoparticles (X) and the polymer (Y) being dispersed in the dispersion medium, the composition being used as an additive composition for a lubricating oil composition, an additive composition for a grease composition, a lubricating oil composition, or a grease composition.
The polymer (Y) is one or more kind selected from the group consisting of a polymer (Y1) that contains two or more kinds selected from the group consisting of a constitutional unit derived from the following monomer (ya), a constitutional unit derived from the following monomer (yb), and a constitutional unit derived from the following monomer (yc), and a polymer (Y2) that contains a constitutional unit derived from the following monomer (yb) and does not contain a constitutional unit derived from the following monomer (ya) and a constitutional unit derived from the following monomer (yc): monomer (ya): an olefin having 12 to 30 carbon atoms, monomer (yb): a vinyl monomer having a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group, at least one hydrogen atom of which is substituted by a chain-like alkyl group having 12 to 30 carbon atoms, and monomer (yc): a vinyl monomer having a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group, all hydrogen atoms of which are not substituted by a chain-like alkyl group having 12 to 30 carbon atoms.
CONTROLLED-COMPOSITION CAPPING OF POLYAMINES AND CAPPED POLYAMINES THEREFROM
A method of capping one or more amine groups within a polymer including providing a polyamine, combining a capping agent with the polyamine at a temperature of less than or equal to 130 C., and recovering capped polyamine, wherein less than 0.01 equivalents of carbon dioxide, based on the equivalents of capping agent used, is released from the reaction. Also disclosed are capped polyamines including one or more polyamines having carbamate capping groups on at least 0.8 equivalents, based on the equivalents of amines in the polyamine, and preferably less than 0.01 equivalents of carbon dioxide, based on the equivalents of capping agent used, released upon formation of the capped polyamine.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITIONS
