Metalworking fluid
A metalworking fluid includes a pH buffer system having one or more organic acids and one or more organic amines. The organic acids, which include aromatic carboxylic acids and C.sub.10 or higher aliphatic carboxylic acids, may replace boric acid, such that boric acid may be excluded from the metalworking fluid. The organic acids may include at least one of phthalic acid, isophthalic acid, and terephthalic acid. The one or more organic amines include aliphatic and aromatic amines having an amine value of at least 50 mg KOH/g. A method of using the metalworking fluid includes shaping a metal by contacting the metal surface with a tool while cooling and lubricating at least one of the metal surface or tool with the metalworking fluid.
Grease composition
The present invention relates to provision of an extreme pressure agent-containing grease composition using, as a thickener, a urea-based thickener, the grease composition being excellent in both torque transmitting efficiency and leakage prevention performance and also excellent in wear resistance and load resistance. The grease composition contains a base oil (A), a urea-based thickener (B), and an extreme pressure agent (C), wherein particles containing the urea-based thickener (B) in the grease composition satisfies the following requirement (I): Requirement (I): an arithmetic average particle diameter of the particles on an area basis as measured by the laser diffraction/scattering method is 2.0 μm or less, and the extreme pressure agent (C) is at least one selected from an organic metal-based extreme pressure agent, a sulfur-based extreme pressure agent, a phosphorus-based extreme pressure agent, and a sulfur-phosphorus-based extreme pressure agent.

The grease composition may contain a base oil (A) and a urea-based thickener (B), which is used for speed reducers and speed increasers, wherein the particles containing the urea-based thickener (B) in the grease composition satisfy the following requirement (I). Requirement (I): the area-based arithmetic average particle diameter of the particles is 2.0 μm or less, as measured by a laser diffraction/scattering method.
Lubricating and cooling fluid for an electric motor system
A lubricating and cooling fluid for an electric motor system including a lubricating base oil, at least one sulfurized component, a dispersant system comprising at least two dispersants, and a friction modifier system comprising at least two friction modifiers. The lubricating and cooling fluid provides good wear and friction performance as well as good copper corrosion and electrical conductivity for use in electric motor system.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITIONS
The present disclosure generally relates to a lubricating oil composition comprising: a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity, one or more detergents comprising at least one alkylhydroxybenzoate compound, and an ashless sulfur compound. Also provided is a method of lubricating an engine with said lubricating oil composition.
Brine-tolerant lubricants and methods for using the same
Brine-tolerant lubricants are provided. The brine-tolerant lubricants may comprise an oil component, a surfactant component, and, optionally, an additive component. In one aspect, the oil component comprises a fatty acid alkyl ester. In one aspect, the surfactant component comprises at least one of an alkoxylated fatty acid and an alkoxylated fatty alcohol. Also provided are methods for increasing the lubricity of a drilling fluid by contacting the drilling fluid with the brine-tolerant lubricants.
Coolant for composite materials
The present invention concerns a coolant, present as an emulsion in the form of a concentrate, for machining fiber-reinforced plastics and material combinations containing fiber-reinforced plastics and metals; furthermore, the present invention also concerns a coolant, present as a solution in the form of concentrate, for machining fiber-reinforced plastics.
SULFUR-BASED EXTREME-PRESSURE AGENT AND METALWORKING FLUID
In metalworking, the amount of sulfur supplied is stabilized in wide temperature and pressure ranges and under an external force, such as a shear force. Thus, a stable iron sulfide film can be formed on the metal surface, and lubricity can be maintained for extended periods. Furthermore, a bulky sulfurized fat or oil with a high molecular weight can be used to form a rigid lubricating oil film with a large oil film thickness on the metal surface and thereby prevent metals from approaching each other. A sulfur-based extreme-pressure agent containing a polysulfide (a) and a sulfurized fat or oil (b) at a mass ratio in the range of 1:0.1 to 1:10. A metalworking fluid containing the sulfur-based lubricating oil composition is also related to.
