The lubricant composition includes a major amount of a base oil including a Group II base stock and an optional Group V base stock, from 0.1 to 9.0 wt. % of at least one viscosity modifier and from 0.1 to 1.2 wt. % of at least one friction modifier. The non-Newtonian engine oil lubricant composition has a kinematic viscosity at 100 deg. C. of less than or equal to 10 cSt and an HTHS (ASTM D4683) of less than or equal to 2.2 cP at 150 C. Also provided are methods of using the lubricant composition in internal combustion engines and methods of making the lubricant composition.
GREASE COMPOSITION, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING GREASE COMPOSITION, AND METHOD FOR USING GREASE COMPOSITION
Provided is a grease composition which is excellent in fire extinguishing performance without water and can suppress fuming, malodor, and liquefaction on burning and a method for producing the grease composition.
A grease composition contains a base oil (A), a thickener (B), and a fire retardant (C), wherein the base oil (A) contains a base oil (A1) having a 40 C. kinematic viscosity of 300 mm.sup.2/s or more, a sulfur content of 20 ppm by mass or less, and an initial boiling point of 400 C. or higher, the fire retardant (C) is at least one of aluminum hydroxide (C1) and 1,3,5-triazine-1,3,5 (2H, 4H, 6H)-tris(ethanol) (C2), and a content of the fire retardant (C) is 1.0 to 12.0 mass % based on a total amount of the grease composition.
Lubricant Composition
Lubricant compositions comprising a base oil, one or more antioxidants selected from a group consisting of N--naphthyl-N-phenylamine antioxidants and diphenylamine antioxidants; and one or more sulfur-containing additives exhibit outstanding oxidative stability and non-corrosion properties. The N--naphthyl-N-phenylamine antioxidants plus diphenylamine antioxidants in total may be present from about 0.2 wt % to about 0.8 wt %, based on the total weight of the lubricant composition. The sulfur provided by the sulfur-containing additives, in total, may be present from about 50 ppm to about 1000 ppm by weight, based on the total weight of the lubricant composition.
Maleinated Derivatives
This invention relates to malienated derivatives made from maleic anhydride, functionalized monomers, and one or more additional reagents, e.g., an oxygen-containing reagent (e.g., alcohol, polyol), a nitrogen-containing reagent (e.g., amine, polyamine, aminoalcohol), a metal and/or a metal compound. The invention relates to lubricants, functional fluids, fuels, dispersants, detergents and functional compositions (e.g., cleaning solutions, food compositions, etc.)
Metal cleaning compositions comprising furoate esters and uses therefor
Disclosed are metal cleaning formulations and methods of use. A formulation of the present teachings comprises one or more furoate esters such as ethyl 5-methyl-2-furoate and methyl 5-methyl-2-furoate. The formulations further comprise a base oil, which can be, for example, a naphthenic oil, a synthetic oil or a combination thereof. In some embodiments, a formulation can further comprise a metal protection additive and a lubrication additive. A variety of base oils, metal protection additives, and lubrication additives are suitable for use in the present teachings. Formulations of the present teachings are especially useful for the cleaning of metal products such as firearms. The cleaning power of a formulation of the instant teachings can exceed that required for US Military Specifications.
