A pair of brackets are provided, and each bracket is releasably attachable to each one of the plurality of separate and independent bed sections to form the bed base. The system also includes at least one support mounted on the top surface of the primary deck that supports the fixed head section. The two sliding rails and the fixed support are the same height so that the entire secondary deck is elevated approximately 3 inches above the primary deck. A lock mechanism is provided to prevent the secondary deck from moving longitudinally over the primary deck. When assembled, the secondary platform is aligned and registered over the primary deck, and a mattress is placed over the secondary deck.

According to the collapsible bed provided in the present invention, the first region on the first side plate or the second side plate protrudes outward relative to the second region. In this way, the stability of the collapsible bed frame in the expanded state can be enhanced.
