METHOD FOR IMPROVING LUBRICANT ANTIFOAMING PERFORMANCE AND FILTERABILITY

A method for improving filterability, while maintaining or improving antifoaming performance, of a lubricating oil in an engine or other mechanical component lubricated with the lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil. A method for improving antifoaming performance, while maintaining or improving filterability, of a lubricating oil in an engine or other mechanical component lubricated with the lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil. The formulated oil has a composition including a lubricating oil base stock as a major component, and at least one antifoam agent, as a minor component. A lubricating oil having a composition including a lubricating oil base stock as a major component, and at least one antifoam agent, as a minor component. The antifoam agent is a silicone composition having a highly branched functionalized silicone backbone. The lubricating oils are useful as automotive gear lubricating compositions.

System, composition and method of application of same for reducing the coefficient of friction and required pulling force during installation of wire or cable

A composition and method for reducing the coefficient of friction and required pulling force of a wire or cable are provided. A composition of aqueous emulsion is provided that is environmentally friendly, halogen free and solvent free. The composition is compatible with various types of insulating materials and may be applied after the wire or cable is cooled and also by spraying or submerging the wire or cable in a bath. The composition contains lubricating agents that provide lower coefficient of friction for wire or cable installation and continuous wire or cable surface lubrication thereafter.

RELATING TO LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS

A lubricating oil composition, a method of reducing low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) in a direct-injected spark-ignited internal combustion engine, and a use of a lubricant composition to reduce LSPI events in such an engine. Preferably, the composition comprises a detergent comprising an overbased calcium detergent having a total base number (TBN) of at least 150, wherein the lubricating oil composition has a calcium content of at least 0.08 wt. %, based on the weight of the lubricating oil composition, and wherein the lubricating oil composition has a silicon content of at least 12 ppm by weight, based on the weight of the lubricating oil composition.

SILICONE POLYMER EMULSIONS

Silicone oil-in-water emulsions containing a polysiloxane containing polymer is prepared by first preparing a polysiloxane containing polymer by the polymerisation of siloxane containing monomers and/or oligomers in the presence of an inert organopoly siloxane and/or an organic fluid, a suitable catalyst and optionally an end-blocking agent; and quenching the reaction if required. If required one or more surfactants may be introduced into the polysiloxane containing polymer to form a homogenous oil phase. Water is then added (in an amount of 0.1-10 percent by weight based on total oil phase weight) to the homogenous oil phase to form a water-in-oil emulsion. Shear is applied to the water-in-oil emulsion to cause inversion of the water-in-oil emulsion to an oil-in-water emulsion. Finally, if required the oil-in-water emulsion can be diluted by adding more water.

LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION, METHOD FOR DEFOAMING LUBRICATING OIL, AND DEFOAMING AGENT COMPOSITION

A lubricating oil composition including: a lubricant base oil; (A) a first defoaming agent obtainable by a process, the process including the step of: polymerizing (b) at least one defoaming agent monomer in (a) a polymerization solvent under coexistence of (c) a polymer soluble in the polymerization solvent; and (B) a second defoaming agent being a silicone defoaming agent.
