The lubricant composition includes at least a soap component, a thickener component, an oil component, and a spherical polyolefin component (optionally Microthene). The spherical polyolefin component includes polyolefin microparticles.

Provided are: a solid lubricant having a low friction coefficient and excellent abrasion resistance; and a sliding member having this solid lubricant embedded therein. The solid lubricant (4) has a sea-island structure, comprising: a sea phase as a continuous phase, containing a hydrocarbon-based wax and a polyethylene resin; and an island phase as a dispersion phase, containing a low-molecular weight tetrafluoroethylene resin, a higher fatty acid salt, a phosphate of basic nitrogen-containing compound, and zinc stannate. A high-molecular weight tetrafluoroethylene resin is contained in this continuous-phase sea phase in a fibrous and mesh state. The hydrocarbon-based wax content is 30-60 vol %, the polyethylene resin content is 3-10 vol %, the low-molecular weight tetrafluoroethylene resin content is 10-30% vol %, the higher fatty acid salt content is 20-40% vol %, the basic nitrogen-containing compound phosphate content is 0.5-5 vol %, the zinc stannate content is 0.5-5 vol %, and the high-molecular weight tetrafluoroethylene resin content is 1-10 vol %.

Drilling fluid compositions include invert emulsion fluids having an oleaginous phase, an aqueous phase, and an emulsifier composition that includes an ethoxylated alcohol compound and a polyaminated fatty acid compound. The ethoxylated alcohol compound has the formula R.sup.1—(OCH.sub.2CH.sub.2).sub.n—OH, where R.sup.1 is a hydrocarbyl group having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms and n is from 1 to 8. The ethoxylated alcohol compound has a Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance (HLB) of less than or equal to 6. The polyaminated fatty acid compound has the formula R.sup.2—CO—NH—CH.sub.2—CH.sub.2—N(COR.sup.2)—CH.sub.2—CH.sub.2—NH—CO—R.sup.3, where R.sup.2 is a hydrocarbyl group having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms and R.sup.3 is a hydrocarbyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or an alkylene carboxylate group having formula —R.sup.4—COOH, where R.sup.4 is a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbylene having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms. Energy efficient, temporary shear thinning siloxane lubricants and method of using

A method of using energy-efficient lubricant compositions to reduce wear between two surfaces exposed to a high shear condition is provided. The lubricant compositions comprise polysiloxane base oils having alkyl, aryl, or a combination of alkyl and aryl functionality. The polysiloxane base oils may be defined according to the formula: ##STR00001##
wherein R, and R′ are independently selected, such that R is an alkyl group having between 1-3 carbon atoms; R′ is an alkyl or aryl group having between 6 to 20 carbon atoms; and m and n are integers, such that 25<(m+n)<500 and the ratio of m/(m+n) is greater than 0.05 and less than 1.00.

Development of retarded acid system

In one embodiment, a retarded acid system comprises an aqueous acid and a retarding surfactant. The aqueous acid may comprise from 5 wt. % to 25 wt. % of a strong acid, that is, an acid having a K.sub.a greater than or equal to 0.01. The aqueous acid may further comprise from 75 wt. % to 95 wt. % water. The retarding surfactant may have the general chemical formula R—(OC.sub.2H.sub.4).sub.X—OH where R is a hydrocarbon having from 11 to 15 carbon atoms and x is an integer from 6 to 10. The retarding surfactant may have a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance from 8 to 16.

Silicone Composition and Curable Grease

A silicone composition having an electromagnetic wave absorbing property and thermal conductivity includes liquid silicone; a high-specific-gravity soft magnetic filler having a specific gravity of 4.5 or greater; an intermediate-specific-gravity thermally conductive filler having a specific gravity of 4.0 or less; and a non-liquid anti-thickening and anti-settling agent. Furthermore, a curable grease is a two-component curable grease including a combination of a base compound and a curing agent that are used by being mixed together when used, the curable grease being to be cured by mixing of the base compound with the curing agent. The base compound is a silicone composition of the present invention, in which the liquid silicone is an organopolysiloxane having a vinyl group at an end thereof. The curing agent is a silicone composition of the present invention, in which the liquid silicone is an organohydrogenpolysiloxane.

LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION

A lubricating oil composition may have a high flash point, a low pour point, and excellent electrical insulation, while having excellent cooling performance. Such a lubricating oil composition may include a base oil (A), wherein the base oil (A) includes at least one synthetic oil (A1) selected from a polyalkylene glycol having a specific degree of polymerization and a polyvinyl ether having a specific degree of polymerization.

A lubricating oil composition may be superior in cooling performance, ensure electrical insulation, and have a high flash point. Such a lubricating oil composition may include a base oil (A) including an ester-based synthetic oil (A1), the content of the ester-based synthetic oil (A1) is 30% by mass to 100% by mass based on the total amount of the base oil (A), the ester-based synthetic oil (A1) is one or more of an ester (A1-1) of a monohydric alcohol and a monobasic acid and an ester (A1-2) of a monohydric alcohol and a polybasic acid, and the base oil (A) satisfies requirements (1) to (3): Requirement (1): the kinematic viscosity at 40° C. is 2.00 mm.sup.2/s to 4.00 mm.sup.2/s. Requirement (2): the specific heat at 20° C. is 1.75 kJ/(kg.Math.K) or less. Requirement (3): the density at 20° C. is 0.850 g/cm.sup.3 or more.
