PRODUCTION OF RENEWABLE WAXES AND BASE OILS
Systems and methods are provided for processing a feed derived from a renewable source to form oligomerized compounds corresponding to waxes, ketone waxes, and/or lubricant boiling range compounds. The oligomerized compounds derived from the renewable source can have various novel properties relative to waxes and/or lubricant boiling range compounds derived from mineral sources or derived from renewable sources in a conventional manner. The oligomerized compounds can be derived from a renewable source including fatty acids and/or fatty acid derivatives, such as glycerides (including triglycerides) and fatty amides. Optionally but preferably, at least a portion of the fatty acids and/or fatty acid derivatives can include olefinic bonds.

Lubricants Having Improved Low Temperature, Oxidation, And Deposit Control Performance
A method for producing a deposit resistant fluid includes combining a base stock and one or more additives to form a blended fluid configured to maintain fluidity in a low temperature environment and to resist forming deposits in an oxidizing environment. The base stock has a viscosity index of at least 80, and either a kinematic viscosity at 40° C. of at least 320 cSt or a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of at least 14 cSt. The base stock includes greater than or equal to about 90 wt % saturates, less than or equal to about 10 wt % aromatics, and a sum of terminal/pendant propyl groups and terminal/pendant ethyl groups of at least 1.7 per 100 carbon atoms.
Aqueous Composition Comprising Water-Soluble Glycerin-Based Polyalkylene Glycols and Use Thereof
The invention relates to aqueous composition comprising water-soluble glycerin-based polyalkylene glycols as synthetic base oils as well as the use of the composition and the glycerin-based polyalkylene glycols as or in metalworking fluids, wherein the glycerin was consecutively alkoxylated in the following order: first with propylene oxide, followed by ethylene oxide and finally with propylene oxide.
