The present invention provides an engine oil composition including 70 to 95 percent by weight of a base oil and 0.01 to 15 percent by weight of a dispersant comb polymer, based on the overall weight of the engine oil composition. The dispersant comb polymer consists of 13.7% by weight of a macromonomer, which is an ester of methacrylic acid and a hydroxylated hydrogenated polybutadiene with Mn of 4750 g/mol; 51.5% by weight of n-butyl methacrylate; 17.3% by weight of LMA; 11.2% by weight of styrene; 0.2% by weight of methyl methacrylate; and 6.10% by weight of N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate. The modified dispersant inhibitor package contains 30 wt % or less of succinimide type dispersant based on the overall weight of the modified dispersant inhibitor additive package, and the engine oil composition has an SAE viscosity grade of 0W-X, wherein X is 30 or less.

Lubricating oil composition

A lubricating oil composition is provided which comprises (a) greater than 50 wt. % of a base oil of lubricating viscosity; and (b) 0.1 to 20 wt. % of an alkyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic carboxylic acid, wherein the alkyl substituent of the alkyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic carboxylic acid has from 12 to 40 carbon atoms; wherein the lubricating oil composition is a monograde lubricating oil composition meeting specifications for SAE J300 revised January 2015 requirements for a SAE 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60 monograde engine oil, and has a TBN of 5 to 200 mg KOH/g, as determined by ASTM D2896.

Metalworking fluid containing a branched alcohol propoxylate

The present invention relates to a method of processing a workpiece comprising contacting a tool and a workpiece to effect a change in the shape of the workpiece, and applying a metalworking fluid to a surface area where the tool and the workpiece are in contact, where the metalworking fluid contains a propoxylate of the formula R—O—(C.sub.3H.sub.6O).sub.n—H, where R is a branched C.sub.6 to C.sub.20 alkyl and n is from 3 to 30. The invention further relates to the metalworking fluid, and to a use of the propoxylate as additive in metalworking fluids.

Metal-working fluid compositions and methods for making

The disclosure relates to a biobased metal-working fluid (MWF) composition and method for making same, and more particularly metal-working fluid with biobased lubricants with improved emulsion stability. At least 50 wt. % of the base oil component in the MWF concentrate is a plant-derived liquid decarboxylated rosin acid oil (“DCR”). The DCR comprises 50 to 100 wt. % of tricyclic compounds having 18-20 carbon atoms, one or more C═C groups, and m/z (mass/charge) value of 220-280; an oxygen content of <5%; a density of 0.9 to 1.0 g/cm.sup.3 at 20° C.; and an acid value of <10 mg KOH/g. The resulting MWF is characterized as having comparable if not better performance compared to a MWF containing only mineral oil (e.g., Group I or Group II).

BASE OILS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

A process for the preparation of saturated hydrocarbon base oils is provided, comprising oligomerization of a feed mixture that has an average carbon number in the range of 14 to 18 to produce an oligomer product comprising dimers, trimers, and higher oligomers, where the dimer has a branching proximity (BP) of 20 or greater, isomerization of at least the dimer portion, and hydrogenation of the isomerized product. The dimer portion is separated from the oligomer product, and a saturated hydrocarbon base oil is obtained comprising greater than 90% dimers having an average carbon number in the range of from 29 to 36, and the dimer portion having a weight average molecular weight in the range of 422 to 510, where the dimers have an average Branching Index (BI) in a range of 22 to 26 and an average paraffin branching proximity (BP) in a range of from 18 to 26.

Grease base oil and grease composition containing said grease base oil

A grease base oil, containing: condensation esters of alcohols (A) and carboxylic acids (B), wherein the alcohols (A) include a polyhydric alcohol represented by General Formula (1), the carboxylic acids (B) include a fatty acid having 5 to 9 carbon atoms (B-1), a branched fatty acid having 15 to 20 carbon atoms (B-2), a cycloalkane monocarboxylic acid having 4 to 8 carbon atoms (B-3), and an aromatic carboxylic acid (B-4), and the carboxylic acids (B) have a percentage of (B-1) above of 30 mol % to 50 mol %, a percentage of (B-2) above of 30 mol % to 50 mol %, a percentage of (B-3) above of 10 mol % to 30 mol %, and a percentage of (B-4) above of 1 mol % to 15 mol %. The grease base oil contains condensation esters having heat resistance and low temperature storageability.
