The fully formulated lubricating composition including one or more performance additives.
Lubricant Composition
A lubricant composition includes a polyalkylene glycol base oil component in an amount of at least about 60 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the lubricant composition. The lubricant composition has a kinematic viscosity at 100 C. of from about 4 to about 50 cSt and a kinematic viscosity at 40 C. of from about 20 to about 700 cSt, each measured in accordance with ASTM D445.
NITROGEN-FREE PHOSPHORUS COMPOUNDS AND LUBRICANTS CONTAINING THE SAME
A composition obtained by reacting an O,O-dialkyldithiophosphoric acid with a hydroxyalkyl acrylate or a hydroxyalkyl methacrylate, and reacting the product thereof with a dialkylphosphite provides good antiwear protection.
Aminobisphosphonate antiwear additives
The present invention relates to novel aminobisphosphonate compounds useful as antiwear and/or friction modifier additive components, lubricant additive compositions and lubricant compositions each comprising such compounds, and methods for making and using the same.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS
The invention provides a lubricating oil composition for automatic transmissions is made such that it comprises proportionately as its main constituents: 60 to 98 mass % as low viscosity base oils being base oils belonging to Groups 2 to 4 of the API (American Petroleum Institute) base oil categories wherein the kinematic viscosity at 100 C. is 2 to 5 mm.sup.2/s (Fischer-Tropsch synthetic oil comprising at least 45 to 80 mass %); 1 to 20 mass % as high-viscosity base oils being metallocene/poly--olefins with a kinematic viscosity at 100 C. of 100 to 600 mm.sup.2/s; and 1 to 20 mass % being a polymethacrylate with a weight-average molecular weight of 10,000 to 50,000. The viscosity index of this composition is not less than 190, the Brookfield viscosity at 40 C. is not more than 5000 mPa.Math.s, the 100 C. kinematic viscosity is 5 to 7 mm.sup.2/s, and the rate of reduction of the 100 C. kinematic viscosity after a KRL shear stability test (60 C., 20 hr) is not more than 3%.
ALIPHATIC TETRAHEDRAL BORATE COMPOUNDS FOR LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS
An additive for a lubricating composition includes an ionic tetrahedral borate compound which includes a cation and a tetrahedral borate anion having a boron atom, the boron atom has at least one aliphatic bidentate di-oxo ligand. The cation may be selected to provide detergent and/or dispersant and/or antioxidant properties to a lubricating composition.
TOTAL BASE NUMBER BOOSTERS FOR MARINE DIESEL ENGINE LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS
A lubricating composition includes an oil of lubricating viscosity and a low-ash additive system including a low molecular weight amine with a Total Base Number of at least 150, and an N-substituted hydrocarbyl-substituted succinimide dispersant. The low-ash additive system provides the lubricating composition with a significant boost in TBN without substantially lowering the flashpoint. The composition is particularly suited to use as a marine diesel engine lubricant.
Low viscosity lubricating polyolefins
A low viscosity oil has more than 50% by weight of 9-methylnonadecane. A lubricating composition has this low viscosity oil as base oil and, optionally, another base oil or an additive. The low viscosity oil has a kinematic viscosity at 100 C., measured by the ASTM D445 standard, of 0.5 to 2.5 mm.sup.2s.sup.1. The low viscosity oil can be prepared using a metallocene catalyst, and the low viscosity oil can be used as high performance lubricant for lubrication in the field of motors, hydraulic fluids and gears, in particular bridges and transmissions.

A lubricant composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and 0.01 to 5 percent by weight of a substantially sulfur-free alkyl phosphate amine salt, where at least 30 mole percent of the phosphorus atoms are in an alkyl pyrophosphate salt structure, exhibits good antiwear performance. In the phosphate amine salt, at least 80 mole percent of the alkyl groups are typically secondary alkyl groups of 3 to 12 carbon atoms.
