Durable lubricating fluids for electric vehicles
The present disclosure relates to a durable lubricating fluid for an electric motor or hybrid-electric motor. The disclosed technology relates to a durable lubricating fluid comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity, a thiadiazole or derivative thereof, and an amine salt of a phosphoric acid.
Transformer oil basestock and transformer oil composition comprising the same
A transformer oil basestock is disclosed that includes at least 99 wt % of naphthenes and paraffins, based on the total weight of the transformer oil basestock, wherein the weight ratio of naphthenes to paraffins is at least 1, as measured by GC-MS, and wherein the paraffins consist essentially of isoparaffins, as determined by GC-FID. In addition, a transformer oil composition is disclosed that includes the transformer oil basestock, an anti-gassing agent and an antioxidant.
Triglyceride Oil Compositions
This disclosure provides a triglyceride oil possessing an extremely low cloud point and low viscosity concomitant with a higher than anticipated saturated fatty acid content, very low polyunsaturated fatty acid content, and low iodine value. While many naturally occurring triglyceride oils possess one or more of these properties, natural triglyceride oils lack one or more of these attributes, thus making them less than ideal in industrial applications, such as lubricants, fuels, or dielectric fluids. The combination of attributes possessed by a triglyceride oil described herein, achieved without the addition of any additives, is unique compared with natural counterparts and as such, can find wide applications in the aforementioned fields.
Transmission Fluid Compositions for Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Applications
A transmission fluid composition contains a major amount of a lubricating oil basestock, and a minor amount of an additive package comprising: (i) a mixture comprising two or more phosphites and/or phosphates; (ii) one or more thioester compounds; (iii) a detergent comprising calcium salicylate; and (iv) a poly(alkylene amine)-based ashless dispersant endcapped with metallocene-catalyzed PAO arms. Such a transmission fluid may be used for controlling/reducing wear in at least partially electrically-powered transmissions and/or for cooling/insulating electrical/electronic components of at least partially electrically-powered drivetrains.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
A lubricating oil composition may include a base oil (A), a neutral phosphorus compound (B), an acidic phosphorus compound (C), a sulfur compound (D) and a metal salt (E) including a metal sulfonate, a metal salicylate, and/or a metal phenate, in which a content of the acidic phosphorus compound (C) in terms of phosphorus atoms is 10 to 180 ppm by mass based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition, a content of the sulfur compound (D) in terms of sulfur atoms is 10 to 1000 ppm by mass based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition, and a content of the metal salt (E) in terms of metal atoms is 5 to 180 ppm by mass based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition.
Lubricating base oils from esterified alkoxylated polyols using saturated long-chain fatty acids
The present disclosure relates to methods and compositions for making bio-based, biodegradable, and non-bioaccumulating lubricating base oils generated by esterifying alkoxylated polyols (average alkoxylation ≥3) with long-chain (≥C14) saturated and unsaturated fatty acids (FA) or fatty acids modified using industry recognized techniques.
Method of producing lubricating base oil from feedstock comprising diesel fraction, and lubricating base oil produced thereby
Disclosed is a method of producing a lubricating base oil, including providing a feedstock including a diesel fraction, subjecting the feedstock to catalytic dewaxing, and recovering a lubricating base oil from a product of the catalytic dewaxing. A lubricating base oil produced thereby and a lubricant product including the lubricating base oil are also provided.
Self-healing insulation fluid for repairing damaged fluid filled cables
The disclosure describes a method of purifying a self-healing fluid (SHF) comprising a drying oil and dielectric fluid. The method comprises (a) filtering the SHF through an absorbent material; and (b) subsequently filtering the SHF through a micropore filter system.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
A lubricating oil composition including: a lubricant base oil; (A) a triazole metal deactivator in an amount of 0.005 to 0.03 mass % in terms of nitrogen on the basis of the total mass of the composition; and (B1) a succinimide compound represented by the following general formula (1) in an amount of 0.0005 to 0.02 mass % in terms of nitrogen on the basis of the total mass of the composition:
##STR00001##
wherein in the general formula (1), R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a C1-36 linear or branched chain alkyl or alkenyl group, and at least one of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 is a C8-36 linear or branched chain alkyl or alkenyl group, and n represents an integer of 1 to 10.
BIODEGRADABLE LUBRICANT WITH TAILORED HYDROLYTIC STABILITY AND IMPROVED THERMAL STABILITY THROUGH ALKOXYLATION OF GLYCEROL
Described herein are methods of stabilizing the beta hydrogen of glycerol based esters by the insertion of alkoxy groups to significantly improve the thermal, oxidative, and hydrolytic stability of the ester and allow for controlling the molar density of esters bonds in the lubricants to maximize hydrolytic stability while maintaining biodegradability and further improving performance properties.
