The invention is a fluid having a kinematic viscosity from 3 to 6 mm.sup.2/s, a flash point of higher than 120? C. and a pour point lower than ?40? C., having a boiling point in the range of from 200? C. to 400? C. and a boiling range below 80? C., said fluid comprising more than 95% isoparaffins and less than 3% of naphthens by weight, a biocarbon content of at least 95% by weight, containing less than 100 ppm aromatics by weight. The invention is also a drilling fluid and the use of the fluid to improve the viscosity of the drilling fluid.

Substantially all of the surfactant is bound within micelles of the oleaginous component. This results in there being substantially no unbound surfactant present in the fluid. The industrial fluid is also substantially flee from insoluble defoamers or anti-foam compounds.

A composition and method for reducing the coefficient of friction and required pulling force of a wire or cable are provided. A composition of aqueous emulsion is provided that is environmentally friendly, halogen free and solvent free. The composition is compatible with various types of insulating materials and may be applied after the wire or cable is cooled and also by spraying or submerging the wire or cable in a bath. The composition contains lubricating agents that provide lower coefficient of friction for wire or cable installation and continuous wire or cable surface lubrication thereafter.

The application relates to compositions comprising di-fatty-alkyl or -alkenyl polyalkylamines of the general formula (I) or (II), to a process for their preparation which involves a cyanoethylation step and a hydrogenation step, and their use as demulsifiers for oil-in-water emulsions, corrosion inhibitor, fuel additive, anti-scaling agent, asphalt additive, enhanced oil recovery agent for oil-wells, cutting-oil additive, and anti-static agent. The product show good performance combined with a favourable viscosity profile.
