Solvent extraction apparatuses and methods
The disclosed embodiments include systems and methods for the solvent extraction of a substance from a material. The disclosed systems include multiple tanks and an extraction chamber in communication with the tanks. Solvent transport is accomplished by heating and/or cooling selected tanks to cause the solvent to be transported between tanks.
OIL EXTRACTION APPARATUS
An oil extraction apparatus includes an ultrasonication vessel that receives raw plant material and ethanol. An ultrasonication probe ultrasonicates the raw plant material received in the ultrasonication vessel and generates a mixture including ultrasonicated raw plant material, plant oil, and ethanol. A collection vessel is in fluid communication with the ultrasonication vessel. The collection vessel receives a mixture including plant oil and ethanol from the ultrasonication vessel. A heater heats the collection vessel to separate ethanol from the mixture including plant oil and ethanol. A reclamation vessel is in fluid communication with the collection vessel. The reclamation vessel receives separated ethanol from the mixture including plant oil and ethanol. An ethanol collection tube is connected with the reclamation vessel. The ethanol collection tube is arranged to carry separated ethanol from the mixture including plant oil and ethanol to the reclamation vessel from the collection vessel.
Silane disulfide vegetable oils, method of making and use in rubber compositions and tires
The present invention is directed to novel silane disulfide vegetable oils, a method of making the oils, their use in rubber compositions, and their use in tires.
Production of algae-derived polyunsaturated fatty acids
Disclosed is a method for producing algae-derived polyunsaturated fatty acids, comprising the steps of a) contacting dry algae with ethanol; b) removing ethanol to obtain crude oil; c) subjecting the crude oil to a transesterification reaction with a lower alcohol to generate fatty acid alkyl esters; d) extracting the fatty acid alkyl esters to result in a phase containing fatty acid alkyl esters; e) collecting the phase containing fatty acid alkyl esters; and f) contacting the collected phase with silica gel. Also disclosed is a method for effectively removing impurities, including chlorophyll, fucoxanthin and beta-carotene, from crude algal fatty acid alkyl esters, comprising contacting the crude algal fatty acid alkyl esters with silica gel in hexane.

METHOD OF AND APPARATUS FOR INDUSTRIALLY OBTAINING RAPE CORE OIL AND RAPE PROTEIN CONCENTRATE FROM RAPESEED
In industrial processing, grains of rapeseed are dehulled. Cold-pressed rapeseed core oil is pressed from a low-hull grain fraction having at most 4 weight percent of hulls. In a press cake being generated, the cake temperature is limited to 70° C., and a first residual oil content is reduced to 8 to 28 weight percent of the dry matter. Pressurized steam is supplied, and the press cake is subsequently expanded to form collets. The steam is metered such that the press cake is temporarily heated to above 100° C. and the collets have a temperature of 80° C. to 95° C. after the expansion. The collets are extracted with an organic solvent, a second residual oil content being reduced to 2 weight percent or less of the dry matter. After the expansion, some of the collets are returned and mixed with the low-hull grain fraction in order to increase the friction when being pressed.
METHOD FOR THE EXTRACTION OF BIO-OIL FROM ALGAL BIOMASS
There is a method for extracting bio-oil from algal biomass, in particular oily microalgae, using solvents of a Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) capable of producing a bio-oil with a low content of phospholipids and inorganic salts, mainly sodium chloride.
Method and apparatus for extracting plant oils using ethanol water
The invention provides a method and apparatus for continuous extraction of plant oils from plant tissue using an advantageous azeotrope of ethanol and water and employing the differing solubility of plant oils in ethanol and water to drive formation of a non-toxic oil tincture.
PROCESS FOR THE EXTRACTION OF OIL-SOLUBLE COMPONENTS FROM PLANT MATERIAL
The invention is directed to a process for the extraction of one or more oil-soluble components from plant material, to an oil comprising one or more oil-soluble components from plant material, preferably obtainable by the process of the invention, a physiologically acceptable product comprising the oil, and to the use of plant material.
The process of the invention comprises: a) providing oil and plant material; b) heating the oil to a temperature of 10-80° C., preferably 50-80° C.; c) contacting the oil with the plant material while the oil and plant material are in motion relative to each other, thereby extracting one or more oil-soluble components from said plant material; d) replacing plant material with new plant material during the extraction process, and e) collecting said oil when the concentration of the one or more oil-soluble components has reached a desired level.
