10744359 · 2020-08-18 ·

A climate change reducing malodorous composition of matter that contains a liquid mercaptan mixed with a solvent, trans-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoroprop-1-ene, and a flame suppression component, trans-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene, and with an inert gas such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide under pressure in a container for introduction into a pressurized breathing or pneumatic tool system, such as in mines, thereby forming a warning system to warn a person of danger when the malodorous composition of matter is released from the container.

A method of countering malodour in a washing machine at the end of a wash cycle, comprising the addition thereto of a fragrance precursor. The fragrance precursor may be added alone in solution, or as part of a fabric softener/conditioner. The precursor is particularly ethyl (Z)-2-acetyl-4-methyltridec-2-enoate; ethyl N,S-bis(4-oxo-4-(2,6,6-trimethylcyclohex-3-en-1-yl)butan-2-yl)cysteinate; 4-(dodecylthio)-4-methylpentan-2-one; 1-butoxy-3-((1E,4Z)-hepta-1,4-dien-1-yl)benzene; 2-ethoxy-4-((1E,4Z)-hepta-1,4-dien-1-yl)phenol; and mixtures thereof. The use of precursor in this manner provides a washing machine that is free from malodour for a prolonged period.
