Organic compounds
A fragrance precursor represented by the formula 1 ##STR00001##
wherein X and Y together represent a double bond to a carbon atom bearing R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, with R.sub.1?H, methyl, acetyl or C.sub.1-C.sub.3 alkoxycarbonyl (e.g. ethoxycarbonyl); and R2=phenyl optionally substituted with up to 3 (i.e. 0, 1, 2 or 3) groups selected from C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl (e.g. methyl, ethyl, iso-propyl, tert-butyl), vinyl, hydroxy, C.sub.1-C.sub.3 alkoxy (e.g. ethoxy), and OCH.sub.2O, e.g. R.sub.2 is benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-yl, 4-methylphenyl, 4-methoxyphenyl, 4-vinylphenyl or 3-ethoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl or R2=naphthyl, (naphthyl)methyl, 1,1,2,4,4,8-hexamethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalen-7-yl, or 1,1,2,4,4,-pentamethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalen-7-yl or R2=COR3, wherein R3 is H, C1-C10 alkoxy (e.g. ethoxy, 1-(3,3-dimethylcyclohexyl)ethoxy), C1-C4 alkyl (e.g. methyl, ethyl, propyl, iso-propyl, tert-butyl), e.g. R2 is formyl, acetyl, ethoxycarbonyl, 1-(3,3-dimethylcyclohexyl)ethoxycarbonyl; or wherein X is OR4, with R4 being H or alkyl, and Y is OR5, with R5 being alkyl, useful as a perfume ingredient.
Perfuming method
Provided is a perfuming method including applying a water-based product to a fabric or a human body and drying, the water-based product containing a perfume precursor composed of an ester of at least one perfume selected from maltol, ethyl maltol, vanillin, ethyl vanillin, and raspberry ketone and at least one aliphatic monocarboxylic acid or aliphatic dicarboxylic acid selected from lauric acid, myristic acid, palimitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, adipic acid, and sebacic acid; and subsequently bringing the perfume precursor into contact with moisture in the air to perform hydrolysis, thereby releasing a perfume.
Freshening compositions and devices comprising same
The present invention relates to freshening compositions and devices comprising same that comprise a composition comprising malodor reduction compositions and methods of making and using such compositions. Such malodor control technologies do not unduely interfere with the scent of the perfumed or unperfumed situs that is treated with the malodor control technology.
POLYPHENOL-CONTAINING SOLID COMPOSITION
An object of the present invention is to provide a polyphenol-containing solid composition that enables efficient ingestion of a polyphenol. This object can be achieved by a solid composition containing (1) an amorphous poorly water-soluble polyphenol, (2) a hydrophilic polymer, and (3) at least one nonionic surfactant selected from the group consisting of polyglycerol fatty acid esters, sucrose fatty acid esters, and lecithins.
DIAZIRINES AS PHOTOCAGES WHICH RELEASE MOLECULES CONTAINING DOUBLE BONDS
The present invention relates to the field of fragrance storage means as used, for example, in the field of washing or cleaning compositions, cosmetic compositions and air freshening compositions. The invention relates to specific diazirines which function as thermally labile and acid-labile fragrance storage means. The present invention further relates to washing and cleaning compositions, cosmetic compositions and air freshening compositions comprising such diazirines. The invention further relates to a method of long-lasting fragrancing of surfaces, and likewise to a method of long-lasting room fragrancing.
FRAGRANCE COMPOSITIONS WITH MOISTURIZING BENEFITS
Described herein is a method of using a composition including a fragrance component, where the fragrance component is present in an amount of from about 0.1% to 96% relative to the total weight of the composition where the fragrance component comprises one or more perfume ingredients selected from a specific list. The method includes using the composition as a skin moisturizer.
