MICRO-ADJUSTMENT OF CUSHIONS
A method for adjusting a cushioning element, such as a pillow, by adjusting a length and a volume of a cover of the pillow. The cover includes one or more gathering elements that can alter the length and the volume of the cover. Each gathering element may extend around an end of the cover. Each gathering element may enable adjustment of the length and volume of the cover in extremely small increments or even continuously (i.e., in micro adjustments). Micro-adjustment of the length and volume of the cover may enable adjustment of a position and/or an orientation of at least one endpoint of a closed kinematic chain of an individual's spine, which may provide control over a curvature of the spine.
Back rest assembly
A back rest assembly includes a base assembly mountable adjacent a resting surface and a back rest having a supported side pivotably supported by the base assembly and an unsupported side spaced laterally apart from the supported side along a lateral axis. When the base assembly is mounted, the back rest is positionable over the resting surface and selectively pivotable about the lateral axis for adjusting an angular position of the back rest relative to the resting surface.
ACCUPRESSURE FOAM SYSTEM WITH INFLATABLE BLADDERS
A zero-gravity position wedge system includes an upper body wedge containing one or more inflatable bladders, a foot wedge, and a pump to inflate the bladders. A mat system includes a mat containing one or more inflatable bladders and a pump to inflate the bladders. The mat is placed on a foam wedge or a zero-gravity position chair. A zero-gravity position chair includes a chair with a reclined upper body support and a raised knee portion; a pair of armrests with a cuff; at least one inflatable bladder in the upper body support; and a pump to inflate the bladder. The cuff activates an acupressure point.
Micro-adjustable covers for cushions
A cover for a cushioning element, such as a pillow, volume adjustable. The cover includes one or more gathering elements that can alter a length and a volume of the cover. Each gathering element may extend around an end of the cover (e.g., circumferentially, helically around a circumference of the cover, etc.). Each gathering element may enable adjustment of the length and volume of the cover in extremely small increments or even continuously (i.e., in micro adjustments). The length and volume of the cover may be adjusted in a manner that limits or prevents migration of a cushioning element (e.g., an infill material, etc.) within the cover. A cushion, such as a pillow, may include a volume-adjustable cover with a cushioning element therein. Methods for adjusting the manner in which a cushioning element supports, molds around, underfills, and/or backfills a load and its form are also disclosed.
Kyphosis back cushion device
A back cushioning device is configured for pressure redistribution each of a cervical region, a thoracic region, a lumbar region, a sacral region, and a coccyx region of a spine of an individual with a medical condition or deformity. The back cushioning device includes a cushioning support matrix with a first end configured to be disposed adjacent to the cervical region of the individual and a tapered second end configured to be disposed adjacent to the coccyx region of the individual. A vertical channel is formed along a length of the cushioning support matrix. The vertical channel is spaced apart from the first end and extends to the second end of the cushioning support matrix. The vertical channel is configured to receive the spine of the individual. A horizontal channel is formed along a width of the cushioning support matrix, the horizontal channel is perpendicular to the vertical channel.
Therapeutic pillow
A therapeutic pillow is disclosed. The therapeutic pillow provides support to a user's head, neck, back, and spine when lying down on the pillow. The pillow includes a head support, an elongated spine support, a firm support member for supporting the elongated spine support, and a lower member for manipulating the pillow. When lying down on the pillow the force exerted onto the elongated spine support compresses the elongated spine support. This compression causes an end of the elongated spine support that is connected to the head support to bend, which in turn causes the head support to bend at an angle towards the vertical axis of the pillow. Further, when lying on the pillow the lower member protrudes through a user's legs, which enables users to grasp the lower member with their legs and perform therapeutic exercises with the pillow.
Cushioning posterior fulcrum back shaper
A cushioning posterior fulcrum back shaper is an apparatus that supports and guides the back and neck of a user. The apparatus encourages the proper form throughout stretches and exercises, positioning each engaged body parts. The apparatus includes a back shaper that supports the arch of the back, and a neck shaper which supports the spine of the user, and consequently the neck. The first grooved channel positions and guides the spine. The back shaper includes a semicircular prismatic body, a sacrum-supporting depression, and a pelvis-supporting depression. The neck shaper includes an elongated body, a first interlocking arm, and a second interlocking arm. The semicircular prismatic body supports the arch of the back. The sacrum-supporting depression and the pelvis-supporting depression position the sacrum and the sacrum and head, respectively. The elongated body is rotatably mounted to the semicircular prismatic body with the first interlocking arm and the second interlocking arm.
Foldable backrest
a foldable backrest, including a backrest plate, operatively configured to be leaned upon by a back of a user. A support plate pivotally connected to the backrest plate operatively configured to be placed on a surface on which a user desires to sit or lay down on. One or more movable rigid wedges configured to form a desired angle between the backrest plate and the support plate in respect to the pivot connection between the backrest plate and the support plate. One or more wedge-stopping means for fixing the movable rigid wedge in a position for forming the desired angle. The one or more movable rigid wedge(s) configured to transfer mechanical support to the backrest plate from a surface on which support plate is positioned when the rigid wedge is fixed in a desired position by the wedge-stopping means.
Adjustable Ergonomic Pillows
A triangular-shaped lower-body pillow has an upper and a lower triangular fabric panel joined along outer edges, seams joining the upper and lower fabric panels, forming a plurality of separate, fillable compartments, and closures along outer edges of the lower-body pillow, allowing access to the separate, fillable compartments. With the closures open, compartments are filled to a same or different thickness, and the closures are then closed.
Adjustable ergonomic pillows
A head pillow has an outer unit comprising two outer compartments with a common width and length, joined along a line in the length direction, each having an upper and a lower fabric wall and a closable opening providing access, and an inner unit with three separate compartments, joined side-by-side with a closable opening. Compartments are filled to a same or different thickness.
