PROCESS OF OBTAINING CHOLESTEROL PRESENT IN FISH OIL

An aspect of the present invention relates to a method for producing cholesterol from fish oil, which generally comprises the steps of transesterifying refined oil using a basic catalyst; obtaining a stream concentrated in cholesterol and another stream concentrated in omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA by means of molecular distillation; and saponifying the cholesterol-rich stream using bases such as potassium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide or calcium chloride. The mixture is subsequently saponified over a range of time and temperature, with agitation and constant reflux. Multiple extractions are carried out using solvents such as toluene, ethylene dichloride, methylene chloride, diethyl ether, petroleum ether, acetone, benzene or a hexane, and centrifugations are performed to obtain the unsaponifiable matter. This last stream is crystallised using acetone, benzene, toluene, diethyl ether, petroleum ether or a hexane to obtain cholesterol with at least 95% purity. In addition, the soap obtained from saponification is transformed into a form of ethyl ester by applying breakdown reactions and acidic esterification.

Method for extracting palmitoleic acid from macadamia integrifolia and use thereof

The present disclosure relates to the technical field of nut-derived fruit oil preparation, in particular to a method for extracting palmitoleic acid from Macadamia integrifolia and use thereof. In the method for extracting palmitoleic acid from Macadamia integrifolia, a fruit oil of the Macadamia integrifolia is purified by vacuum distillation, and an antioxidant is added during the vacuum distillation. A preparation method of the antioxidant includes the following steps: extracting a pulverized Macadamia integrifolia green peel using ethanol by heat reflux to obtain a green peel extract; extracting the green peel extract using petroleum ether, and then using ethyl acetate; collecting an ethyl acetate layer to obtain the antioxidant. The method can avoid easy oxidization and deterioration of oil during extracting and enriching the palmitoleic acid, and can enrich the palmitoleic acid in the fruit oil of the Macadamia integrifolia by not less than 3 times.

Solvent extraction of oil from distillers dried grains and methods of using extraction products

A process for extraction of crude oil from distillers dried grain solubles and/or distillers dried grains using a solvent extraction process and producing corn distillers meal that may be used as an animal feed supplement is disclosed. The corn distillers meal may be used as a crude protein supplement for use in a livestock feed diet, poultry feed diet, aquatic feed diet or the like. The solvent extracted crude oil may be suitable for other processes, including oleochemical processing for personal care and home care products, biodiesel production, and/or renewable diesel production from hydro-treating the extracted oil to make green diesel fuel.

An all-natural, moisturizing soap composition that allows for high vegetable butter fat content while also being capable of processing for high quality bar soap (moisturizing properties without sticky pellets, brittleness, cracking, and/or inhibition of lather formation) and a method for making the same and other soaps is provided. The soap composition may contain up to 50% vegetable butter fat(s). The semi-continuous process for saponification provides a fast and energy efficient alternative to prior art methods, while also allowing for high quality bar soap that contains a high content (up to 50%) of vegetable butter fat(s).

Method for production of fatty acids

A process for production fatty acids comprising: adjusting pH of a saponifiable material to a value above pH 7 by adding alkaline material; saponifying all saponifiable material by passing alternate electrical current through the material, wherein the said step of saponification occurs in a saponification reactor; acidulating the saponified material by adding acid to pH value below 4; isolating obtained free fatty acids from aqueous layer.

According to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, a method for producing an emulsifier suitable for use in an emulsion drilling fluid may comprise esterifying a processed vegetable oil to produce a first mixture comprising fatty acid alkyl esters. The processed vegetable oil may comprise less than 1 wt. % of compounds having an atmospheric boiling point less than or equal to 150° C. The method may further comprise removing at least 99 wt. % of each of glycerol, water, and short-chain alcohols having a main chain of less than or equal to 12 carbon atoms from the first mixture to produce a modified mixture, and hydrolyzing the fatty acid alkyl esters of the modified mixture with a base to produce the emulsifier comprising at least one salt of a fatty acid. Emulsion drilling fluids comprising the emulsifier and methods of producing emulsion drilling fluids are also disclosed.
