Production of renewable base oil and diesel by pre-fractionation of fatty acids
Methods are disclosed for producing renewable base oil and a diesel oil from low-value biological oils. Low-value biological oils containing free fatty acids and fatty acid esters can be processed into a renewable base oil and a renewable diesel oil by first separating at least part of the saturated free fatty acids from the feedstock and then processing separately this saturated free acid feed in a ketonisation reaction followed by hydrodeoxygenation and hydroisomerisation reactions to yield a renewable base oil stream. The remaining free fatty acid depleted feed may be processed in a separate hydrodeoxygenation and hydroisomerisation step to yield a renewable diesel stream.

PARTIAL ENZYMATIC HYDROLYSIS OF TRIACYLGLYCEROLS
Disclosed herein are host cells transformed with a nucleic acid molecule comprising a polynucleotide sequence, wherein the polynucleotide sequence encodes a polypeptide that hydrolyzes an ester linkage of a triacylglycerol in an oil comprising at least one long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid, methods for using such host cells, and processes for production of a lipase using such host cells.
METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR GREASE PURIFICATION
A method for grease purification is disclosed. The method comprises steps of: S1, feeding crude grease into a grease hydrolysis column to be hydrolysed so as to obtain aqueous phase, organic phase, and middle layer substances between the aqueous phase and the organic phase; S2, feeding the organic phase and the middle layer substances in the grease hydrolysis column into a flash stripping column to be flashed so as to obtain vaporized products and non-vaporized products; and S3, feeding the vaporized products in the flash stripping column into a separation column to be separated so as to obtain fatty acid. By this method, fatty acid with a high purity can be obtained; glycerin can be obtained as a co-product; and high value-added nutrients in the grease can be collected. Therefore, the use value of grease can be greatly improved.

METHOD FOR CONVERTING CARBOXYLIC ACIDS AND ESTERS INTO BASE OIL HYDROCARBONS
A number of different branched hydrocarbon compounds (formula I) having a star-like configuration (S) are prepared from renewable oils containing fatty acids or derivatives containing fatty acids. The branched hydrocarbon compounds may be isolated individually or in mixtures, and may be used as part of base oils, such as renewable base oils (RBOs). A process for preparing the branched hydrocarbon compounds of formula I involve conditions that favour a trimerisation reaction followed by hydrotreating conditions. The compounds of formula I may be made by catalytically treating renewable material in a process, and the compounds have desirable qualities relating to lubrication, cold flow as well as having a low Noack volatility.
High yield jet fuel and chemicals from ozonolysis of triglycerides
A method for producing jet range hydrocarbons may include reacting at least a portion a fatty acid stream comprising C18:1 free fatty acid with ozone in an ozonolysis unit to form at least a C18:1 ozonide intermediate; introducing the C18:1 ozonide intermediate into a reactor, wherein at least a portion of the C18:1 ozonide intermediate is reacted with a reductive agent to produce oxidized products comprising azelaic acid and nonanoic acid; and introducing the oxidized products into a hydrotreating unit, wherein at least a portion of the oxidized products is hydrotreated to produce a paraffin product comprising nonane.
