20210087499 · 2021-03-25 · ·

Described herein are peracetic compositions, methods and kits for the disruption and/or the removal of bacterial biofilms. The compositions comprise (i) peracetic acid; (ii) at least one secondary acid; and (iii) a non-foaming surfactant. One of the methods comprises contacting, preferably for at least 5 min, a surface with such a peracetic such a peracetic composition. Another method comprises circulating such a composition into a piping system for a period of time providing for disruption and/or removal from the biofilm. Kits may comprise bottles of concentrated solutions to be mixed and dilute with water before use. These compositions, methods and kits are particularly useful to remove bacterial biofilms from enclosed surfaces such as piping systems that are commonly used in the food and beverages industries.

Peracid-containing particle

A first aspect relates to a particle including: (a) at least one bleaching agent including an organic peroxyacid; (b) at least one component selected from: (i) saccharides and polysaccharides, and derivatives thereof; (ii) inorganic fillers selected from the group consisting of talcs, micas, zeolites, silicates, metal oxides and clays; and (iii) linear, branched and cross-linked polymers and copolymers; (c) at least one pH reducing agent; and (d) at least one chelating agent. Further aspects relate to a process for preparing the particle, a composition or a dough including the particle, and use of the particle in a cleaning composition, a dental care composition, a hair dyeing composition or decolouriser, an antimicrobial composition or a bleach composition.

Disposable wipes with treatment agent safely formed insitu

A wipe that can be used deodorize, disinfect, and/or sterilize an object. A wipe manipulator may be used with a wipe to create, energize, or enhance one or more treatment agent in a wipe to improve its efficacy. Desirably, a wipe manipulator is flexible to accommodate to curved surfaces. A wipe includes a flexible membrane or cloth-like element that may apply, distribute, and/or remove a treatment agent to, over, or from a surface of the object. An enhanced treatment agent, such as peracetic acid, may be applied to the surface subsequent to being formed in the wipe as a result of installation of the wipe onto a manipulator, or otherwise activating the wipe. A wipe manipulator may include one or more rechargeable reservoir to contain and apply a synergistic treatment agent to the wipe to create the enhanced treatment agent.

Provided are various methods and systems for producing peroxycarboxylic acid compositions, and in particular, nonequilibrium compositions of peracetic acid. The methods and systems control flow rates and proportions of feedstocks/reactants, perform the required sequence of reaction steps to produce high yield peroxycarboxcylic acid solutions in a continuous manner, and provide optimal reaction time and reactant mixing for continuous and safe on-site production.

METHOD OF WASHING TEXTILE ARTICLES

The present invention relates to a method of washing textile articles that can be carried out, for example, in a continuous batch tunnel washer. Embodiments of the present method can include treating the textile with an aqueous composition including cleaning agent and halogen-containing bleaching agent for a time sufficient to remove soil from the textile and contacting the halogen-treated textile with an aqueous composition including a peroxycarboxylic acid. The concentration of halogen after the sufficient time can be at a level that does not result in adverse interaction between the halogen-containing bleaching agent and the peroxycarboxylic acid.

Embodiments of the present method can clean textiles with the results of more effective stain removal and less waste through destruction of the textile article. Further, the present invention can clean a textile contacted soiled by a composition including chlorhexidine gluconate without resulting staining of the textile, which staining could have been permanent.
