A securing, gripping, or positioning element, e.g., elastic or other suitable securing element, can be provided at one or more locations on the sleeve or band, wherein the securing, gripping, or positioning element(s) can be placed around the mattress periphery at a position below the mattress top surface. The securing, gripping, or positioning element(s) are capable of securing the bed sheets in between the sleeve or band and the mattress.
