ARTICLES AND METHODS FOR SAMPLE PREPARATION

Articles and methods for preparing a surface for obtaining a patient sample, such as blood, are generally provided. In some embodiments, the methods involve wiping a surface of skin of a patient in preparation for obtaining a sample (e.g., a blood sample) from the patient. In some embodiments, the methods involve wiping the surface of the skin with two or more wipes. For instance, the surface of the skin may be wiped with a first wipe comprising a surfactant and a second wipe comprising an antiseptic solution. Advantageously, the use of a first wipe including a surfactant followed by a second wipe may remove a higher amount of certain contaminants (e.g., proteins, bacteria, viruses) from the surface of the skin as compared to the use of a single wipe or by hand-washing alone.

PRESERVATIVE COMPOSITION FOR WET WIPES

A wiping composition and a wiping product containing the composition are disclosed. The wiping composition contains a combination of an antimicrobial agent with a preservative enhancing agent that not only provides antiseptic properties when applied to an adjacent surface, but also is well suited to preserving the substrate that is used to apply the composition. In particular, the composition has been unexpectedly found to inhibit or destroy bacteria, particularly Burkholderia cepacia, even when the active ingredients are used at extremely low levels.

LAUNDRY AID AND USE THEREOF

A dye-capturing laundry aid comprising: a support in the form of a sheet comprising water-insoluble fibers; a first substance anchored to the support, wherein the first substance has moieties that are cationic when exposed to water at one or more pH values in the pH range of from 6 to 10; and a second substance that coats the first substance, wherein the second substance is a polymer that remains substantially coated upon the first substance when the laundry aid is exposed to water over the pH range of from 6 to 10, and at least 50% of the repeating units in the polymer have a structure according to the following Formula (1).

The use of at least one modified polysaccharide selected from starch, amylose, amylopectin and dextrin or a mixture thereof substituted with one or more amine and/or ammonium groups, as an antimicrobial agent, is provided by the present invention, as well as compositions comprising a polymer material blended with the modified polysaccharide. Also provided by the present invention are antimicrobial articles produced from the compositions of the invention and antimicrobial surface, fabric, foam or sponge produced by coating, soaking or dipping in a solution comprising modified polysaccharides. The present invention further provides non-therapeutic methods for killing microorganisms, inhibiting their growth, and/or preventing formation of a biofilm, and for producing an antimicrobial surface, article, fabric, foam or sponge from modified polysaccharides.

Peroxide based cleaning compositions

The present disclosure describes a peroxide based cleaning composition comprising a peroxide; a builder; a surfactant; a peroxide stabilizer; and remainder water and optional adjuvant. In various embodiments, the cleaning composition comprises hydrogen peroxide, sodium bicarbonate, a vegetable fatty acid potassium soap, glycerin, water and essential oil. The peroxide based cleaning composition exhibits storage stability for up to about 9-months and provides cleaning efficacy on a wide variety of hard surfaces and fabrics.

Method for manufacturing a dye scavenging substrate

A method for manufacturing a dye scavenging substrate which comprises the steps of: (a) providing an absorbent substrate; (b) passing the substrate through a bath containing an alkaline solution of a dye scavenging compound selected from: (i) a N-trisubstituted ammonium-2-hydroxy-3-halopropyl compound having the general formula (I), or (ii) a salt of epoxy propyl ammonium having the general formula (II), or a combination thereof; (c) subjecting the substrate to a pressure of from about 0.04 MPa to about 0.40 MPa; (d) wrapping the substrate in a water impermeable material and rotating the substrate for a period of from about 12 hours to about 60 hours; (e) removing the water impermeable material and passing the substrate through a bath containing an acid solution; (f) subjecting the substrate to a pressure of from about 0.15 MPa to about 0.40 MPa; and (g) drying the substrate.

Soap compositions and methods

Natural soap compositions and methods of manufacturing the same having anti-microbial properties for treating and preventing diaper rash and other microbial infections. The soap compositions may contain one or more fatty acids with carbon length ranging from four (C4) to twenty-two (C22) and/or natural fatty acid mixtures of coconut oil, olive oil, and/or tall oil fatty acids which are saponified with lye. The saponification lye may be sodium or potassium hydroxide. In preferred embodiments, the soap compositions contain at least one of sodium or potassium caprate, sodium or potassium caprylate, or mixtures thereof, especially 55:45% caprylate to caprate. The soap compositions are effective at treating or preventing diaper rashes and other microbial infections associated with Candida albicans (Ca—yeast), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Psa—a Gram negative bacteria), Staphylococcus aureus (Sa—a Gram positive bacteria), and Aspergillus niger (An—a mold).

NON-WOVEN FABRIC CONTAINING A DISINFECTING AGENT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

The present invention relates to a non-woven fabric, a method for producing a non-woven fabric, a wipe or tissue and uses thereof as well as a disinfecting method, in particular against bacteria and viruses, such as coronaviruses including severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The non-woven fabric comprises pulp fibers and/or cellulosic fibers, a binder, a cationic polymer, and a disinfecting agent.
