Airlift Reactor Assembly with Helical Sieve Plate
20180119083 · 2018-05-03 ·

The present invention discloses an airlift reactor assembly with a helical sieve plate, comprising a reaction tank, wherein a draft tube and a gas sparger are assembled in the reaction tank, the gas sparger is arranged just below an riser section of the draft tube, a helical sieve plate is arranged in the riser section of the draft tube, and a body of the helical sieve plate is helical upwards to guide a part of two/three-phase flow in the riser section, and the body of the helical sieve plate is provided with a plurality of sieve meshes to guide the remaining two/three-phase go through the helical sieve plate in the riser section and to break bubbles. The present invention gives consideration to both macroscopic mixing and microscopic mixing processes. In addition to driving liquid to circularly flow by using ejected gas, the helical sieve plate can be used for breaking large bubbles into small bubbles thereby effectively preventing the bubbles from coalescing, increasing gas holdup and increasing a volumetric oxygen transfer coefficient.

The bioreactor includes a vessel configured to receive the photoautotrophic organisms, the vessel having a longitudinal axis, which a circumferential wall extends around said axis, wherein said circumferential wall is translucent so as to enable light to enter the vessel from the outside for acting on the photoautotrophic organisms, wherein a device for providing an uneven distribution of the light intensity within said vessel along said axis is provided.

Non-pressurised pre-treatment, enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation of waste fractions

The present invention relates to a process for production of fermentation products, including bioethanol by non-pressurized pre-treatment, enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation of waste fractions containing mono- and/or polysaccharides, having a relatively high dry matter content. The process in its entirety, i.e. from non-pressurized pre-treatment over enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation to sorting of fermentable and non-fermentable solids can be processed at a relatively high dry matter content in a single vessel or similar device using free fall mixing for the mechanical processing of the waste fraction.

A process and apparatus for sequestering carbon and converting it to fuel, such as methane, and/or materials, such as fermentation substrates, biopolymers, bioplastics, oils, pigments, biochar, metals, such as mercury, chromium and arsenic, fibers, proteins, vitamins, fertilizers and animal feed. The apparatus comprises a deep well carbon-sequestering bioreactor coaxially located within a deep well anaerobic bioreactor. Carbon is sequestered into a photosynthetic biomass or a heterotrophic biomass, which is subsequently digested by an anaerobic biomass containing methanogenic microbes, whereby methane is a digestion product. Alternatively, the biomass can be subjected to physical-chemical treatment to produce oil and other useful byproducts.
