Apparatus and method for establishing and growing vegetation in arid environments
11277962 · 2022-03-22 ·

A method and apparatus for cultivating vegetation at an arid location includes rooting immature vegetation in a mat combined with a super absorbent polymer (“SAP”) and, in embodiments, fertilizer, sand, and/or soil; placing the mat at the arid location; and covering the mat with a perforated, transparent or semi-transparent cover. Most or all of the apparatus can be biodegradable or removable, and the sand or soil can be similar to indigenous sand or soil. A water barrier can be placed below the mat. The cover can be placed on or suspended above the mat. SAP, seeds, and/or additional water barriers can be placed between mats in a stack. The opacity of the cover can be increased to emulate shade from natural vegetation. A water distribution system can be included for continued support of the vegetation, and can include a water reservoir and/or at least one solar still.

Customizable Plant Growing System
20210321575 · 2021-10-21 · ·

The system includes a pre-fabricated garden seedsheet, with seeds and soil embedded in water-soluble pods within a weed barrier fabric. Each water-soluble pod is fabricated from dissolvable material, which are affixed together to form cavities in which seeds and soil are applied. The pods are then affixed to the weed barrier matrix in an arrangement dictated by the plant algorithm. Upon contact with water, the pods rapidly dissolve, thereby beginning the germination process in which the seeds sprout and emerge through the aligned openings in the weed barrier fabric. The selection of plants and their physical arrangement within each seedsheet may be determined by a software-driven plant algorithm that extrapolates plant characteristics, environmental requirements, and companion benefits. The algorithm may be used both on the customer-facing software program, as well as the in-house design process to create pre-designed seed sheets.

Seed quilts

A quilted composite sheet containing seeds makes growing microgreens and other crops simple. Each sheet is a layered composite of multiple materials including seed, grow substrate and seed cover. A user can spread a seed quilt over the surface to be planted, water, wait, and harvest.

METHOD FOR REMEDYING SANDY LAND BY USING SIMULATED LOAM SUBSTRATE SPRAY-SEEDING TECHNOLOGY
20210219484 · 2021-07-22 ·

The present invention discloses a method for remedying sandy land by using a simulated loam substrate spray-seeding technology. The method includes the following steps: first, carrying out a simple sand-fixing treatment to lay a metal mesh in sandy land, the metal mesh being fixed to the surface of the sandy land by a sand-fixing pile; second, spray-seeding a seed into the sandy land by means of simulated loam substrate spray-seeding; and finally, when the spray-seeding is completed, carrying out maintenance management, including adding a protective plate around the metal mesh, covering with a non-woven fabric, watering, fertilizing, reseeding, and post-monitoring. The method for remedying sandy land by using a simulated loam substrate spray-seeding technology provided by the present invention adopts a two-layer spray-seeding method, and rapidly simulates a simulated loam substrate suitable for plant growth in natural world by bionics; the simulated loam substrate has a good water retention capacity, which is conducive to a higher germination rate of a seed, root development, a microbial activity, nutrient transformation, and plant growth and development; and with less investment and a quick effect, the method is suitable for large-scale sand control.

AGRICULTURAL HYBRID PAPER AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
20210243964 · 2021-08-12 ·

An agricultural paper mulch sheet including a paper based substrate and a nutrient additive. The nutrient additive may be a water soluble nitrogen fertilizer. The agricultural paper may be deployed from rolls and draped over crops in a garden or field, wherein the agricultural paper covers a substantial portion of the soil in which the plants will grow or are growing, while, in some preferred embodiments, providing openings (i.e., holes) for individual plants to emanate from the soil through the agricultural paper set forth around the plant. The sheet is preferably porous, tillable, and biodegradable. The substrate may have an ink pattern printed on it. The method includes applying the nutrient additive to the substrate preferably via a printing process.
