Reactor sampling apparatus, system, and method

A probe tube subassembly for a sampling apparatus, and related systems and methods are disclosed. The probe tube subassembly includes a probe tube, a retaining sleeve connected to the probe tube, an inner sleeve positioned within the retaining sleeve and comprising apertures, sample tubes, each extending within the probe tube and through a respective one of the apertures, and a sample head positioned within the inner sleeve and including a pocket located at a distal end portion thereof. The sample head is axially slidable within the inner sleeve between an extended position where the pocket is exposed to an ambient environment, and a retracted position where the pocket is covered by the inner sleeve. The disclosed subassembly and related apparatus, systems, and methods provide improved performance and ease of servicing, among other advantages.

Bioprocess device assembly and inoculation method

A bioprocess device assembly includes at least a first bioreactor and a second bioreactor, and a transfer system for transferring a certain volume of a medium contained in the first bioreactor into the second bioreactor. A biomass sensor is associated to the first bioreactor. A control unit is configured for receiving measurement data from the biomass sensor and controlling the transfer system. An inoculation method makes use of such a device assembly wherein the biomass sensor measures at least one parameter of biomass contained in the first bioreactor; the biomass sensor sends measurement data to the control unit; and the control unit evaluates the measurement data and, based on an evaluation of the measurement data decides whether the viable cell density is sufficient for inoculation, determines a necessary inoculation volume, and controls the transfer system to transfer the determined inoculation volume from the first bioreactor into the second bioreactor.

A system for processing samples from a body of fluid. The system includes one or more sample bottles for acquiring a sample from the body of fluid. Each sample bottle initially retains a pre-filling fluid. Each sample bottle includes a fluidic inlet port and a bottle outlet port. Each sample bottle has an inlet check valve coupled to the fluidic inlet port, the inlet check valve configured to allow fluid from the body of fluid into a sample bottle via the fluidic inlet port when the pressure difference between the body of fluid and fluid within the sample bottle reaches a threshold. The system further includes at least one pump, the bottle outlet port of each sample bottle selectively coupled to the at least one pump via a different control valve. The at least one pump is configured, in a first configuration, to remove prefilling fluid from each selected sample bottle such that, for each selected sample bottle, the pressure difference threshold is reached and a sample from the body of fluid is acquired.
