DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING A VIABILITY AND/OR A CELL COUNT OF BIOLOGICAL CELLS IN A SUSPENSION BY MEANS OF COLLIMATED TRANSMISSION

Devices and methods are provided for determining viability and/or a cell counts of biological cells in a cell suspension culture using collimated transmission. Devices can include an illumination source for generating an electromagnetic illumination beam; beam manipulation means for collimating the illumination beam; and a detection unit for detecting an electromagnetic transmission beam being a portion of the collimated illumination beam which has been transmitted through a sample of the cell suspension culture.

DISPENSING METHOD AND APPARATUS

There is provided an apparatus comprising a receptacle to receive a sample. A sample dispenser dispenses the sample into the receptacle and an image capture device captures an image of the sample in the receptacle. Processing circuitry processes the image to determine whether the receptacle contains zero cells, exactly one cell, or more than one cell. In response to the processor determining that the receptacle contains zero cells, the processing circuitry causes the sample dispenser to dispense a further sample into the receptacle.

Method and system for automated microbial colony counting from streaked sample on plated media

An imaging system and method for microbial growth detection, counting or identification. One colony may be contrasted in an image that is not optimal for another type of colony. The system and method provides contrast from all available material through space (spatial differences), time (differences appearing over time for a given capture condition) and color space transformation using image input information over time to assess whether microbial growth has occurred for a given sample.

CLOSED-SYSTEM CULTURE VESSEL, TRANSPORT METHOD, AND AUTOMATED CULTURING DEVICE

To provide a closed system culture vessel for realizing culturing in which an aseptic state is maintained at the time of culturing, and making the reduction of the shear stress generated during conveyance after manufacturing possible. A closed system culture vessel 201 holds a second vessel 302 consisting of an insert vessel on the inside of a first vessel 301, and a lid portion 303 of the closed system culture vessel 201 forms a closed space with the first vessel 301 and has a convex portion 305 contacting the entire outer circumference of the second vessel 302. During conveyance, the closed system culture vessel is conveyed in a state in which the culture medium for conveyance is filled within the second vessel 302.

CELL PROCESSING SYSTEM AND METHOD WITH POST-SEPARATION CELL COUNT CONTROL

A cell processing system includes a processor connectable to a source container filled with a biological fluid and one or more wash media containers. The processor includes a separator connectable to the source container and a product container, the separator configured to separate the biological fluid from the source container into at least two streams. In addition, a controller is coupled to the processor and configured to: cause the separator to separate the biological fluid into at least two streams, direct one of the at least two streams into the product container, subsequently pause processing of the biological fluid, after pausing, determine a measured cell count in the product container, and add fluid to the product container from the wash media containers as a function of the measured cell count in the product container while the product container is connected to the wash media containers.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRANSFERRING SPECIMEN CONTAINERS BETWEEN DETECTION INSTRUMENTS
