HOST DEPLETION AND MICROBIAL ENRICHMENT OF A BIOLOGICAL SAMPLE AND RELATED METHODS AND SYSTEMS

Provided herein are methods and systems to selectively deplete a biological sample of host compartments and/or host nucleic acid while enriching the sample microbial compartments and/or related microbial nucleic acid. In addition, provided herein are compositions, methods and systems related to said host depletion and microbial enrichment methods and systems.

Method and apparatus for processing tissue samples

A system, methods, and apparatus are described to collect and prepare single cells, nuclei, subcellular components, and biomolecules from specimens including tissues and in some embodiments use the single cells to form organoids or microtissues. The system can perform enzymatic and/or physical disruption of the tissue to dissociate it into single-cells and then use a hanging droplet method to form organoids or microtissues.

PROCESS AND PRODUCT THEREOF

There is described a process for producing at least one of mycoprotein and the components thereof, the process comprising: (i) providing a fermentation media suitable for producing mycoprotein; (ii) fermenting the fermentation media to obtain a mixture comprising mycoprotein; (iii) separating the mycoprotein from the mixture to obtain a mycoprotein phase; and (iv) mechanically disrupting the cell walls of the mycoprotein in the mycoprotein phase thereby releasing at least some of the mycoprotein cell contents. There is also described at least one of mycoprotein and the components thereof obtainable, obtained or directly obtained from the process. Further described is a composition comprising at least one of mycoprotein and the components thereof, wherein the composition is non-fibrous. The composition may comprise at least one of: protein obtained from mycoprotein, and amino acids derived from protein obtained from mycoprotein.

The invention provides engineered mitochondria and a preparation method thereof, and relates to the technical field of mitochondria. The engineered mitochondria are formed by attaching exogenous cell membranes to outer membranes of exogenous mitochondria. The preparation method comprises the following steps: S1: extracting exogenous cell membranes from cells; S2: separating and extracting exogenous mitochondria from cells or tissue; and S3: mixing the separated and extracted exogenous mitochondria with the exogenous cell membranes in a specific ratio, thereby attaching the exogenous cell membranes to the outer membranes of the exogenous mitochondria to obtain the engineered mitochondria. The invention enables the production of engineered mitochondria with enhanced biological activity, exhibiting improved therapeutic effects on mitochondrial dysfunction-related disorders.
