MATTRESS ASSEMBLY AND METHOD
A mattress assembly includes a chassis having top and bottom walls and first and second sidewalls that each extend from the top wall to the bottom wall. Inner surfaces of the walls and the sidewalls define an interior cavity. The top and bottom walls each include a first section that is connected to the first sidewall and a second section that is connected to the second sidewall such that the first sections are pivotable relative to the first sidewall and the second sections are pivotable relative to the second sidewall. The first section of the top wall is pivotable relative to the second section of the top wall and the first section of the bottom wall is pivotable relative to the second section of the bottom wall. A spring assembly is configured to be positioned within the interior cavity.

Mattress top panel and mattress assemblies with improved airflow
Vertically lapped nonwoven material is used to provide enhanced breathability and comfort in mattresses by replacing foam material in one or more of, including all of top panel quilts, layers underneath the top panel quilts, and in side blocks which surround spring supports. The vertically lapped nonwoven may provide advantages in terms of cost, manufacturing ease, robustness in mattress design, while at the same time providing the user with a much more comfortable sleeping experience.
Zoned Spring Mattress That Can Be Compactly Compressed, Folded and Rolled
A foldable and rollable zoned spring mattress includes a zoned spring layer with first, second and third lateral regions. The central axis of the mattress passes through the second lateral region. The first lateral region is disposed between the second lateral region and the top of the mattress, and the third lateral region is disposed between the second lateral region and the bottom of the mattress. The second lateral region includes pocket springs comprised of individual metal coils each encased in a fabric pocket. The first and third lateral regions include coils that are connected to one another by parallel rows of helical-shaped wires that are oriented perpendicular to the central axis. The mattress is compressed and then folded at its central axis at the pocket springs of the second lateral region. The compressed and folded mattress is then rolled such that the helical-shaped wires are not folded or bent.
MATTRESS
A mattress includes a layer including a first surface and a second surface arranged opposite to the first surface. The layer defines a plurality of slits extending from the first surface to the second surface and arranged in a plurality of rows extending in a longitudinal direction. The slits in each row are arrayed linearly in the longitudinal direction and are disposed spaced apart from each other. The rows of the slits restrict a compression of the layer to an area under loading and prevent the surrounding portion of the layer from being pulled towards the area under loading.
Pocketed spring assembly including cushion pads and buckling members
A pocketed spring assembly comprises a plurality of parallel strings of springs, each string joined to at least one adjacent string, each string comprising one piece of fabric folded into first and second opposed plies. Outer pockets are formed along each string by transverse seams joining the first and second plies. One pocketed spring, at least cushion pad and at least one buckling member are positioned in each outer pocket. At least one cushion pad, at least one buckling member or any combination thereof may be individually pocketed inside an outer pocket.
Pocket Spring Unit
A pocket spring unit comprising a plurality of pocket springs each comprising a coil spring and a pocket. Each of the pockets comprise top portion and bottom portions. Each of the pockets are formed from a continuous top piece of fabric attached to a continuous bottom piece of fabric to form a bond having a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of each coil spring. The pocket spring unit further comprises an attachment layer comprising a top portion comprising an inner and outer surface. The pocket spring unit further comprises a plurality of first cushion elements engaged with the outer surface of the top portion of the attachment layer. The inner surface of the top portion of the attachment element is engaged with the top portion of the pockets of the pocket springs such that each of the first cushion elements act only upon one of the pocket springs.
