Elastomeric cushion members including perforated skins and related methods
Elastomeric cushion members may include a plurality of interconnected buckling walls including an elastomeric material. The interconnected buckling walls may together define a plurality of columns. A perforated skin may extend between at least some of the plurality of interconnected buckling walls of at least some of the plurality of columns. Methods of making elastomeric cushion members may involve interconnecting a plurality of buckling walls including an elastomeric material. The interconnected buckling walls may together define a plurality of columns. A perforated skin may be positioned to extend between at least some of the plurality of interconnected buckling walls of at least some of the plurality of columns.
Body support structures
A body support structure comprising one or more gel layers, such as structures comprising a plurality of ridges and a plurality of valleys. Methods of forming the gel layers and body support structures comprising the gel layers. Systems for manufacturing body support structures comprising the gel layers.
MULTI-LAYERED CUSHIONING SUPPORT
Multi-layer cushion supports are described which may generally comprise a first support having a first contact surface for contacting a portion of a body and a second surface opposite to the first surface, the first support defining a central chamber and a peripheral chamber surrounding the central chamber, wherein the first support is filled with a first gas or liquid and a second support attached to the first support along the first contact surface. The second support may be filled with a second gas or liquid which is relatively more viscous than the first gas or liquid. In particular, the first support may be filled with a volume of air and the second support may be filled with oil which is less than the volume of air.
Customizable cushioning structure for addressing medical conditions and symptoms
A cushioning structure may be provided that utilizes multiple layers of differing materials, each providing a different aspect of comfort, cooling, and support. In one aspect of the invention a first layer comprises an elastomeric gel supported in a foam structure. In another aspect an additional layer comprises a liquid gel-infused viscoelastic foam. In a further aspect, an additional layer comprises a high-density polyurethane foam. In a further aspect, an additional layer comprises a foamed latex.
Expandable bed
A bed assembly includes a frame and a mattress receivable on the frame, the mattress including a plurality of longitudinally-extending sections and at least one bladder. The at least one bladder is inflatable to increase a width of the mattress.
BEDDING COMPONENTS INCLUDING FLUID ABSORBING GEL BEADS
A mattress insert, able to be inserted into a traditional mattress, includes a plurality of compartments, each containing gel beads and water suitable for simulating the feeling, pressure relief, and temperature regulation of a waterbed. The mattress insert is placed into a foam structural material of the mattress, providing the mattress insert with support and preventing the spread of the gel beads within the insert. The foam core of the mattress may be either solid or rounded. This mattress technology and insert is useful for beds, including medical beds and dog beds, recliners, chairs, and sofas.
Mattress assemblies including phase change materials
Mattress assemblies including at least one foam layer at or proximate to a sleeping surface including a plurality of channels or recesses in at least one surface, wherein at least a portion of the channels include an encapsulated bulk phase change material at least partially filling the channel or the recesses.
Bed With Integrated Climate Control
Some aspects of this disclosure include a bed system with integrated climate control. In some examples, the bed system includes an integrated fan assembly for directing airflow around and/or in a mattress to adjust a temperature of the mattress.
VIBRATING BED
Disclosed are embodiments of a vibrating bed which allows a particular person to induce a customized vibrational pattern that they find particularly therapeutic. In certain embodiments, the bed has a water mattress, a carriage for the mattress, a hardwood frame to support the carriage, a transducer for producing different vibrational patterns in the mattress, a vibrotactile amplifier for controlling the transducer, a computer for controlling the amplifier and software on the computer for producing sounds of particular frequencies to induce the vibrational patterns in the water mattress.
MATTRESS TOPPER
A mattress topper for use with a mattress includes a first planar layer having a first firmness; a second planar layer having a second firmness; wherein the second firmness is different than the first firmness; a peripheral edge layer connected with both the first and second layers and having a third firmness, wherein the peripheral edge layer follows perimeters of each of the first and second planar layers and wherein the first planar layer, second planar layer, and peripheral edge layer define an interior cavity; and an inner layer encapsulated within the interior cavity, and wherein the first and second planar layers have an interior surface adjacent to the interior cavity and an exterior surface opposite the interior surface.
