Mattress with inflatable lumbar support
A mattress includes an inflatable lumbar support spanning across a top surface of the mattress in a position corresponding to the lumbar back area of a user when in a sleeping position. The apparatus further utilizes an electrical pump to inflate the tube to a desired firmness. A means to heat the tube for additional comfort and therapeutic benefit is also provided. The means to heat the tube as well as the inflatable connection are capable of being removable to enable repositioning or portability of the tube and means to heat the tube.
Cushion for seating
A hybrid seating cushion made up of a cushion base and a cushion insert. The cushion base has a seating surface in which a void in or extending through the cushion base is formed. A cushion insert such as an air bladder or fluid sack is positioned within the void. A lip or upper surface around an opening in the void overhangs at least a portion of the cushion insert, thereby minimizing the size and corresponding negative effects of a transition area where the base and the insert overlap.
THERAPEUTIC CUSHION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An apparatus includes a therapeutic cushion including a body support portion, a head support portion and a back support portion. The body support portion has a first end portion and a second end portion and a top surface disposed at an angle relative to a bottom surface. The second end portion has a height greater than a height of the first end portion. The body support portion and the head support portion collectively define a receiving portion configured to receive a user's arm therein and is asymmetric relative to a centerline of the apparatus. The back support is disposed on a portion of the top surface of the body support portion. The back support is configured to maintain the user in a side position on the therapeutic cushion.
RESILIENT CORES WITH CONVECTION BARRIERS PARTICULARLY FOR INFLATABLE BODIES AND METHODS FOR MAKING THE SAME
Resilient cores preferably for inflatable bodies having resilient slabs that define a plurality of generally columnar holes or resilient arrays of generally columnar solids, methods for making such slabs and arrays, and articles incorporating the same wherein the cores further includes thermal transmission mitigation means for improving a core's resistance to heat transfer beyond the core's innate insulative properties. Non-exclusive and non-exhaustive examples of such thermal transmission mitigation means in slab core embodiments include consideration to hole or bore geometric cross section, frequency, pattern and orientation, the introduction of a thermal barrier at or within at least some holes or bores, and/or slab material selection/treatment. Non-exclusive and non-exhaustive examples of such thermal transmission mitigation means in array core embodiments include consideration to the geometric cross section, frequency (density), pattern and orientation of the solids, the introduction of thermal barriers within inter-solid spaces and/or solid material selection/treatment.
MATTRESS
A mattress includes a layer including a first surface and a second surface arranged opposite to the first surface. The layer defines a plurality of slits extending from the first surface to the second surface and arranged in a plurality of rows extending in a longitudinal direction. The slits in each row are arrayed linearly in the longitudinal direction and are disposed spaced apart from each other. The rows of the slits restrict a compression of the layer to an area under loading and prevent the surrounding portion of the layer from being pulled towards the area under loading.
Ventilated mattresses
A ventilated mattress includes a ventilation system with an air distribution layer and a gel cushioning layer over the air distribution layer. The air distribution layer may include channels in a surface thereof, while voids that extend through an entire thickness of the gel cushioning layer may include voids that communicate with the channels. As the ventilation system forces air into the air distribution layer, the air may flow through the channels, into and through the voids of the gel cushioning layer, and to a top of the ventilated mattress.
Mattress with rails and method of use
A mattress assembly includes a cover having a pocket. A mattress is positioned within the pocket. The mattress includes opposite first and second sides, the first side having a cavity. An insert is positioned within the cavity. Methods of use are disclosed.
Air distribution for mattresses
A ventilated mattress includes a ventilation system with an air distribution layer and a gel cushioning layer over the air distribution layer.
