Wearable child carrier

A wearable child carrier to be worn by a person to carry a child close to his torso includes a hip belt and a child seat with a seat bottom and a backrest. The child carrier includes a pair of suspension beams for transferring a load from the child seat to the hip support. Each suspension beam has a beam body with a proximal beam end being connected to the hip support. Each beam body is connected to the backrest of the child seat. The connection to the backrest is beneficial in that an improved load transfer from the child seat to the hips is obtained. In addition, the beam body may form a leg restraint for the child to provide lateral stability.

A baby carrier assembly includes a belt that can be worn about a mother's waist. A sleeve is positioned around the belt and the sleeve defines a cushion chamber that is centrally located on the belt. A cushion is positioned within the cushion chamber to facilitate a baby to be seated on the cushion chamber when the belt is worn around the mother's waist. A first scarf is extendable through the cushion chamber in the sleeve such that the first scarf forms a pair of arms that can be wrapped around the baby and the mother's torso thereby securing the baby to the mother's torso. A second scarf is provided which is wrappable around the first scarf to facilitate the baby to be firmly secured against the mother's torso.

The slot has a pair of open ends, each of which is positioned on an associated one of a pair of lateral sides of the clip member. A platform is coupled to the top end of the clip member and has a support surface configured for supporting a load thereon. The platform may pivot between stored and deployed positions and lock in the deployed position.
