Aromatic culture product of microorganism
Provided is a culture product having a mild rose aroma and suitable for imparting the rose aroma to a cosmetic product, a food or a drink, a pharmaceutical product, and the like. A culture product, which is obtained by fermenting a lactic acid bacterium culture product in a medium containing a milk component with Kluyveromyces marxianus, and comprises isoamyl alcohol in an amount of 0.3 to 5 parts by mass with respect to 1 part by mass of phenylethyl acetate.
MULTIVALENT PNEUMOCOCCAL POLYSACCHARIDE-PROTEIN CONJUGATE COMPOSTION
Provided are mixed carrier, multivalent pneumococcal conjugate compositions comprising 21 different pneumococcal capsular polysaccharide-protein conjugates, wherein each of the conjugates includes a capsular polysaccharide from a different serotype of Streptococcus pneumoniae conjugated to either tetanus toxoid (TT) or CRM.sub.197, wherein the Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes are selected from 1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 8, 9N, 9V, 10A, 11 A, 12F, 14, 15B, 18C, 19A, 19F, 22F, 23F, and 33F, where the capsular polysaccharides of two of serotypes 1, 3, and 5 and one or both of serotypes 15B and 22F are conjugated to TT and the remaining capsular polysaccharides are conjugated to CRM.sub.197. Also provided are methods of producing the mixed carrier, multivalent pneumococcal conjugate compositions and methods of using the same for prophylaxis against Streptococcus pneumoniae infection or disease in a subject.
Attenuating bacterial virulence by attenuating bacterial folate transport
The invention relates to bacterial infections, vaccines directed against those infections and bacterial vaccines. More particularly, the invention relates to vaccines directed against Streptococcus infections in pigs. The invention provides a ΔFolT mutant of a bacterium having reduced capacity to transport folate, wherein said capacity has been reduced by functionally deleting folate transporter (FolT) function. The invention also provides a method to reduce virulence of a bacterium comprising reducing the capacity of said bacterium to transport folate.
Method for producing fermented food, fermented food, and lactic acid bacteria-containing composition
The present invention provides a method for producing a fermented food, comprising: a fermentation step of fermenting a raw material milk-containing milk preparation solution added with Lactobacillus delbrueckii and Streptococcus thermophilus carrying a prtS gene.
METHOD FOR PREPARING LIVE ATTENUATED VACCINE BY IRRADIATION AND LIVE ATTENUATED VACCINE COMPOSITION PREPARED BY THE SAME
The present invention relates to a method of preparing a live attenuated vaccine by irradiation and a live attenuated vaccine composition prepared by the same, and more particularly, a method of preparing a live attenuated vaccine by irradiation including irradiating a pathogenic microorganism with a dose of 0.5 to 2 kGy of radiation per single radiation six to fifteen times; and a live attenuated vaccine composition including a pathogenic microorganism attenuated to not be revertant to a wild type by generation of at least one mutation of nucleotide insertion and nucleotide deletion by irradiation.
TARGET-SPECIFIC CRISPR MUTANT
The present invention relates to an artificially engineered CRISPR/Cas9 system. More particularly, the present invention relates to an artificially engineered CRISPR enzyme having enhanced target specificity and a use of an artificially engineered CRISPR/Cas9 system including the same enzyme in genome and/or epigenome manipulation or modification, genome targeting, genome editing, and in vitro diagnosis, etc.
LIPID-ENCAPSULATED DUAL-CLEAVING ENDONUCLEASE FOR DNA AND GENE EDITING
Methods to edit genes by administering a chimeric nuclease to a cell or organism without the use of a viral vector.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS TO INCREASE PRODUCTION OF ISOTHIOCYANATES
Compositions and methods for converting at least one glucosinolate to an isothiocyanate using Bacillus subtilis 839, Bacillus subtilis CO4_4, Pediococcus pentosaceus M3_H01, and/or Pediococcus pentosaceus M2_H12, or active variants thereof, are provided. Conversion of glucosinolates, such as glucoraphanin, to isothiocyanates, such as sulforaphane, leads to the stimulation of the Nrf2/Keap pathway and phase II enzymes, providing chemoprotective and anti-inflammatory effects. Accordingly, provided herein are compositions comprising Bacillus subtilis 839, Bacillus subtilis CO4_4, Pediococcus pentosaceus M3_H01, and/or Pediococcus pentosaceus M2_H12, or active variants thereof, for administration to subjects for increasing isothiocyanate (e.g., sulforaphane) production, increasing the expression of genes regulated by the Nrf2 transcription factor, including phase II enzymes, decreasing inflammation, and treating or preventing an inflammatory disorder or a cancer. The composition can comprise at least one glucosinolate or a plant, plant part or an extract thereof comprising glucosinolate(s).
Method and System for Reducing the Likelihood of Developing Depression in an Individual
A method for reducing the likelihood of developing depression in an individual involves providing in the gut of an individual a population of beneficial bacteria selected from the group consisting of bacterial species able to make small chain fatty acids, and preferably butyrate, and administering fiber to the individual to maintain a therapeutically effective amount of the beneficial bacteria in the gut of the individual. The individual's gut microbiome is modified to reduce the number of undesired bacteria and to increase the number of beneficial bacteria. Bacteria are preferably modified to remove one or more virulence facts or alternatively to produce increased amounts of SCFA's, such as butyrate. Beneficial bacteria may be encapsulated in a frangible enclosure to ensure they arrive in an individual's body while still viable, e.g. such as being first released in the lower gut rather than being exposed to the harsh conditions of an individual's stomach. In other embodiments, a therapeutically effective amount of a bacterial formulation comprising Faecalibacterium prausnitzii is administered. Other embodiments include the administration of a bacterial formulation comprising at least one of Coprococcus, Roseburia, Bifidobacterium, Faecalibacterium prausnitzii and L. casei to treat depression.
METHOD OF TREATING BOVINE MASTITIS
A method of treating or preventing mastitis in a bovine animal comprising administering to the animal a therapeutically effective amount of particular microbes thereby treating or preventing mastitis in the animal.
