PLANT-BASED ZERO SUGAR FOOD PRODUCT AND ASSOCIATED METHOD
A plant-based food product with zero sugar is provided. The plant-based food product includes an amount of water, a sugar content of between 0 wt % and 0.4 wt % referred to as having zero sugar, and a plant-based fiber product. The plant-based fiber product includes an amount of water, a plant-based flour, an amount of plant fiber, and a plurality of enzymes comprising: an alpha amylase, a glucose oxidase, catalase, and a cellulase. The plant-based food product may be incorporated in a milk, yogurt, shake, or bar, for example.
Process and apparatus for manufacturing water-absorbing material and use in cat litter
A process for manufacturing particles of water-absorbing material is provided. The process includes providing a powder bed composed of an absorptive powder comprising a water-absorbing polysaccharide onto a surface; releasing an aqueous solution from a solution dispenser so as to contact the powder bed, 5 thereby forming a solution-impregnated humid material; letting the solution-impregnated humid material agglomerate in substantially shear-less conditions to form an agglomerated humid material, the solution-impregnated humid material being supported by the surface; and drying the agglomerated humid material, thereby forming the particles.
ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITIONS AND FORMULATIONS
Compositions for generating antimicrobial activity are described. The compositions comprise: a first phase; a second phase; an enzyme that is able to convert a substrate to release hydrogen peroxide; and a substance that includes a substrate for the enzyme, wherein the first phase and the second phase are immiscible. The compositions may be formulated as emulsions or creams. Methods of making the compositions are described, as well as their use for the treatment of antimicrobial infections.
MAGNETICALLY IMMOBILIZED METABOLIC ENZYMES AND COFACTOR SYSTEMS
The present invention provides compositions and methods for producing magnetic bionanocatalysts (BNCs) comprising metabolically self-sufficient systems of enzymes that include P450 monooxygenases or other metabolic enzymes and cofactor regeneration enzymes.
FLUORESCENT PROBE
A fluorescent probe is obtained via hydrolysis and condensation reaction using 3-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane. The fluorescent probe includes a silicon oxide core and a self-assembled monolayer. The self-assembled monolayer has an epoxide group, and joins the silicone oxide core by a covalent bond. The epoxide group of the fluorescent probe can form a conjugated bond with a molecule with an amino group via an aminolysis reaction, forming a nanoparticle including the molecule and the fluorescent probe.
ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITIONS
Compositions for generating antimicrobial activity are described. The compositions comprise an enzyme that is able to convert a substrate to release hydrogen peroxide, a substrate for the enzyme, and a solute in the form of a sugar or sugar derivative having a solubility of at least 100 g/100 g water at 20 C. and 1 atm. The compositions may not comprise sufficient free water to allow the enzyme to convert the substrate.
ENZYME-ASSISTED ATRP PROCEDURES
Materials and methods for conducting an atom transfer radical polymerization in the presence of oxygen by interlocking enzymatic activities are provided herein.
HIERARCHICAL MAGNETIC NANOPARTICLE-ENZYME MESOPOROUS ASSEMBLIES EMBEDDED IN MACROPOROUS SCAFFOLDS
A hierarchical catalyst composition comprising a continuous or particulate macroporous scaffold in which is incorporated mesoporous aggregates of magnetic nanoparticles, wherein an enzyme is embedded in mesopores of the mesoporous aggregates of magnetic nanoparticles. Methods for synthesizing the hierarchical catalyst composition are also described. Also described are processes that use the recoverable hierarchical catalyst composition for depolymerizing lignin remediation of water contaminated with aromatic substances, polymerizing monomers by a free-radical mechanism, epoxidation of alkenes, halogenation of phenols, inhibiting growth and function of microorganisms in a solution, and carbon dioxide conversion to methanol. Further described are methods for increasing the space time yield and/or total turnover number of a liquid-phase chemical reaction that includes magnetic particles to facilitate the chemical reaction, the method comprising subjecting the chemical reaction to a plurality of magnetic fields of selected magnetic strength, relative position in the chemical reaction, and relative motion.
PEPTIDE COACERVATES AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
The present invention provides for a composition, as disclosed herein, for delivery of an active agent. The composition includes a peptide coacervate, wherein the peptide coacervate includes one or more peptides derived from histidine-rich proteins, and an active agent encapsulated in the peptide coacervate. Further provided are a method for encapsulation of an active agent in a peptide coacervate, a method for delivery of an active agent, and a method for treating or diagnosing a condition or disease in a subject in need thereof.
CONTINUOUS ANALYTE MONITORING ELECTRODE WITH CROSSLINKED ENZYME
The present invention relates to an enzymatic electrode comprising a conductive surface and wherein a conjugate comprising at least one enzyme molecule is covalently bound to the conductive surface. The electrode is suitable for continuous analyte monitoring, particularly for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) with glucose oxidase (GOD) as enzyme molecule. Further, the invention relates to an electrochemical sensor for measuring the concentration of an analyte, e.g. glucose under in vivo conditions comprising the enzymatic electrode.
