11017641 · 2021-05-25 · ·

Disclosed are visual recognition and sensor fusion weight detection system and method. An example method includes: tracking, by a sensor system, objects and motions within a selected area of a store; activating, by the sensor system, a first computing device positioned in the selected area in response to detecting a presence of a customer within the selected area; identifying, by the sensor system, the customer and at least one item carried by the customer; transmitting, by the sensor system, identifying information of the customer and the at least one item to a computing server system via a communication network; measuring, by the first computing device, a weight of the at least one item; transmitting, by the first computing device, the weight to the computing server system via the communication network; and generating, by the computing server system, via the communication network, transaction information of the at least one item.

Self-checkout system

A self-checkout system for controlling an exit of a checkout area (110) is provided. The system comprises a sensor arrangement (120) comprising at least one sensor (140), wherein the sensor arrangement (120) is configured to track, by the at least one sensor (140), a person being inside the checkout area (110), receive a payment signal confirming a successful payment by a person (1), receive an exit detection signal, from the at least one sensor (140) representing that a person (1) is at a predetermined distance from the exit in the checkout area (110), and determine if the exit detection signal and the payment signal correspond to the same person (1), and if so transmit an opening signal to said exit so that said person (1) is allowed to exit the area (110).

Automatic labeling of products via expedited checkout system

A portable checkout unit automatically generates training data for an automatic checkout system as a customer collects items in a store. A customer uses an item scanner of portable checkout unit to generate a virtual shopping list of items collected in the shopping cart. When the customer adds a new item to the shopping cart or on some regular interval, the portable checkout unit captures images of the items contained by the shopping cart and can generate bounding boxes for each product in each image. The bounding boxes can be associated with item identifiers from previously-generated bounding boxes to identify the items captured by the bounding boxes. Each bounding box paired with an item identifier can then be used as training data for an automated checkout system.

SMART PLATFORM COUNTER DISPLAY SYSTEM AND METHOD

A smart product display system has a base on which a product can be placed. A product camera mounted to the base is used to image a field of view over the base. Images from the product camera are analyzed to identify products that are placed on the base and to detect when a customer has interacted with a product, such as by lifting it up. When a product interaction is detected, information about the product is presented on a display. The display can be integrated in a riser extending upwardly from the base. A customer camera can be used to capture images of a person in the vicinity of the system. Images from the customer camera can be analyzed to identify an attribute of an imaged person and an output, such as a content display or an alert, generated responsive to the attribute.

Vacuum fixture

Disclosed is a vacuum fixture. The vacuum fixture may include a base plate assembly, a middle frame assembly, and a top plate assembly. The base plate assembly may have a first hinged edge. The middle frame assembly may be connected to the base plate proximate the first hinged edge and may define a void. The top plate assembly may have a second hinged edge connected to the first hinged edge, such that when the top plate assembly is in a closed position the middle frame assembly is located in between and contacts a first surface of the base plate assembly and a first surface of the top plate assembly, thereby forming a cavity in between the base plate assembly and the top plate assembly.

Conveyor belt sterilization apparatus and method

A conveyor belt sanitization apparatus and method are provided for sanitizing a conveyor belt of the species commonly found at grocery stores and supermarkets using ultraviolet (UV) light. One or more UV light bulbs in the apparatus may be positioned to effectively sanitize a conveyor belt.

EMPTY BOTTOM SHELF OF SHOPPING CART MONITOR AND ALERTING SYSTEM USING DISTANCE MEASURING METHODS

A method apparatus are directed to identify items disposed on the bottom shelf of a shopping cart bottom of basket (BoB). Certain aspects envision a distance measurement sensor and computing system connected to the shopping cart. A first set of distance measurements of the bottom shelf when empty is obtained via the distance measurement sensor. Next, at a checkout stand, a second set of distance measurements of the shelf are taken, which can be used to compare with the first set of distance measurements to identify if there is an object on the BoB. An alert can be provided to a checkout attendant if there is an object on the BoB.

Settlement device

A settlement device includes a packing unit located near a reading unit to pack a commodity, a symbol of which is read by a reading unit, a measuring unit to measure the packed commodity, a light emitting unit, determining means for determining, using data of weight measured, whether the commodity, the symbol of which is read, is packed, and light-emission controller for, if determining that the commodity, the symbol of which is read, is packed, causing the light emitting unit to emit light in a first form and, if determining that the commodity, the symbol of which is read, is not packed, causing the light emitting unit to emit light in a second form.

FOOD STAND SYSTEM

A food stand system with a plan view in the shape of an incomplete circle, with a flat top surface as a countertop, and a convex customer-facing surface. The stand contains a food preparation appliance having both cooking and refrigeration components. Sensors measure the appliance interior state, and provide data to an automated controller that controls appliance operation to prepare food for consumption.
